Extractions: What made you pick some of those players? Were there better choices, that year's crop of retirees didn't have any ripe harvests, or did you simply feel the players listed just weren't overly impressive as you'd feel they'd require for induction? Skipper Steve 12-01-2001, 08:57 AM Rick Ferrell - - if I heard (and remember) the story right - - - he was a really nice guy who had friends on the Vets Committee - - and they would always throw him a few votes just to make him feel good each year (seeing the votes). Then, one year, they didn't coordinate it right and they actually ended up giving him enough votes to get in! :eek2: If that's true - it's very sad. I once was on the Puckett should not get in train - - then I looked it over - - even with the short career - - he had a pretty good run as a CF - - and, there have been very few true CFers that have hit - - I think I ended up with Puckett being the 8th best hitting CF ever or something like that? I'm OK with him now.
