He was born April 16, 1922 at Girard in Kent County, TX to William Andrew and Nettie Grace Sykes Gardner. He married Sybil Brantley on August 29, 1953 in Lubbock, TX. William was a farmer and former member of the McAdoo School Board and the McAdoo Gin Board. He moved to McAdoo in 1954 from Abilene and was a US Air Force Veteran. He is preceded in death by a brother Bob Gardner. Survivors include his wife, Sybil of McAdoo, a son, Mack Gardner and his wife Debi of McAdoo, a daughter, Donna Edinburg and her husband Russ of McAdoo, a sister, Nettie Faye Gardner of Snyder and two grandchildren, James Edinburg and Dakota Gardner.
