These are portriats done by Picasso. The first is a scupture cast in bronze. See the Cubism planes on the face. The center portait is an oil painting that looks more realistic than the last one bacuse the planes are broken up as much. Cubism is the style where collage got it's start in the art world. You can see from the textures and shape varieties, the artists were very bold and loved variety.
Self-Portrait, 1906 / Self Portrait, 1907, National Gallery, Prague
Picasso is the artist that said, "I was bonrn knowing how to draw and paint realisticly, it took me over 20 years to learn how to paint like a child." You can see those characteristics in the two self portaits above.
Man with Violin, 1911-12, Philadelphia Museum of Art
Sometimes the subject is almost lost in the Cubism works of art.

I really enjoyed creating this website. It made me realize how much I actually don't know about Pablo Picasso and a better understanding of his life definitely helped me appreciate his art that much more. I have to say I am inspired, and I am ready to start a painting in the Cubist style, that could be my winter project. Thank you for visiting this website! I hope you enjoyed reading through it! Project Description Description : Each child was give 4 black and white digital pictures of their head. Then they cut them out and glued them back together in Picasso style. Then I had them color over them with oil pastels. Materials : Digital pictures of each child - 4 positions; scissors; paper Presentation Time 15 minutes Presentation Content I read the book - it was a fabulous book and all other info on Picasso seemed hard to related to children. Comments Children were howling when they were cutting and gluing the faces. They loved seeing themselves and cutting many noses, eyes, etc. This is a project to do for the process, not for museum night. They looked better before the oil pastels were used. Would be great for any grade. Taking the digital pictures took a lot of set up time.

Even Spain ’s famous artists and architects have combined bold color and outrageous designs to unthinkable boundaries. If you’d like to experience a little piece of Spain by wearing a colorful necklace inspired by these influencers, please see my hand wrapped "Spanish Jumbles" wire pendants on the Necklaces page. The design is very unique and lightweight. I saw similar styles made by local artists in Barcelona at jewelry galleries in the Eixample district, and at the museum gift shops.

- Pablo Ruiz Picasso
Pablo Ruiz Picasso is one the most influential Spanish painters of the 20th century.
I invite you to explore his life, his works, and most importantly, how the political environment in Spain and Europe in the late 1930’s is reflected in his master pieces. It is important that you keep a journal (roughly 75% in Spanish) of your findings. Your entries should address the following points:
Who was Picasso? What was his upbringing like? How was his lifestyle? What were his struggles? What artists did he look up to? What political movement was happening in Spain in the 1930’s? What was Picasso’s position? Make inferences by observing his works. What political movement was happening in Spain in the 1930’s? What was Picasso’s position? Make inferences by observing his works. In Spanish, describe each piece of work with as much detail as to give a blind person an accurate mental picture of what each painting looks like. Include the painting’s name and year. Out of all of Picasso’s works that you have observed, select an interesting/intriguing painting. In an 8x11 white paper, sketch a replica of the painting in pencil. Choose one of the following:
