He led the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL) to four Super Bowl victories—a feat matched only by quarterback Joe Montana of the San Francisco 49ers. Bradshaw earned two consecutive Super Bowl most valuable player (MVP) awards for his performances in Super Bowl XIII and Super Bowl XIV. Terry Paxton Bradshaw was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was educated at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, where he became known as the Ruston Rifle for his strong throwing arm. After an outstanding collegiate career, Bradshaw was the first player selected in the 1970 NFL draft. Because of his reckless and aggressive style, his start with the Steelers proved difficult. He threw 24 interceptions during his rookie year as the Steelers compiled a 5-9 win-loss record.

Z Terry Bradshaw Biography Terry Bradshaw (born Terry Paxton Bradshaw, September 2, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana) is a former quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the American National Football League (NFL), and a current television host. Over a six-year span, he won four Super Bowl titles with Pittsburgh (1975, 1976, 1979 and 1980). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989.
After graduating from Louisiana Tech, Bradshaw was the first player selected in the 1970 NFL draft. During his first several seasons, the 6'3" (190 cm), 215 lb. (97 kg) quarterback was erratic, and was ridiculed by the media for his rural roots and perceived lack of intelligence. Before one Super Bowl appearance against the Dallas Cowboys, Cowboys linebacker Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson famously ridiculed Bradshaw by saying, "He couldn't spell 'cat' if you spotted him the 'c' and the 'a'." Bradshaw got his revenge by winning the game; years later, Henderson, who struggled for years to conquer drug addiction, admitted he was high on cocaine at the time of the interview.
Bradshaw eventually became the premier quarterback in the NFL, leading the Steelers to eight AFC Central championships and the unprecedented collection of Super Bowl rings. He was named the Most Valuable Player in both Super Bowl XIII (35-31 over the Dallas Cowboys) and Super Bowl XIV (31-19 over the Los Angeles Rams). He also made significant contributions in Super Bowl IX and Super Bowl X.

"Bradshaw doesn't carry much baggage; he recognizes that he's had an enviable life. Perhaps his biggest challenge has been ADD…He admits that it was painful at the time, but instead of dwelling on it, Bradshaw simply put more of his efforts into his sport. And, when he left the game, he says, "Once I accepted the fact that I could no longer play, I never looked back.... That's my form of emotional protection. It's the way I survive." -From a Publishers Weekly review of It's Only a Game TERRY BRADSHAW

PROFILE
The first player chosen in the 1970 NFL draft, Bradshaw became one of the most popular and prolific quarterbacks in NFL history, leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to four Super Bowl championships. His iconic stature—blond hair spilling from under a black helmet; arms cocked and ready to throw a pass—is one of the most memorable in professional sports. Under his direction, Pittsburgh enjoyed Super Bowl championships in 1975, 76, 79 and 80, making him a rare and perfect 4-0 in the Super Bowl. After his incredible dynasty-making career, some have argued that Bradshaw is actually better known today as an entertaining and opinionated commentator.

by Terry Bradshaw and David Fisher New York Times Bestseller In the follow up to the New York Times bestselling It’s Only a Game , America’s most popular sports analyst (and four-time Super Bowl champ) shares a trove of hard-won, surefire secrets for success in all of life’s arenas. More personal that its predecessor and full of Bradshaw’s signature, good-natured irreverence, Keep It Simple explores the aspects of Bradshaw’s life that have brought him happiness and sorrow alike, from his deep-seated personal beliefs to his broken marriages. Through it all, his famous sense of humor stays intact: As Bradshaw admits, the only thing he has done well consistently is fail. When it comes to failure, he is an expert and through it all he has learned how to turn failure into… success. Well, at least sometimes. Keep It Simple delivers invaluable, hard-won life lessons, all delivered in the straightforward, tell-it-like-it-is style that is Terry’s trademark.

Chanteur Country US né Terry Paxton Bradshaw, le 2 septembre 1948 à Shreveport (Louisiane). Terry Bradshaw (born Terry Paxton Bradshaw, September 2, 1948, Shreveport, LA) was the second of three sons born into a family whose loving parents provided strong parental guidance and religious upbringing. He had always felt driven by some strange force about which neither he nor anyone else around him had any awareness. It wasn't until Bradshaw was well into adulthood that he arranged to have himself tested to determine why he had always been so overly burdened by anxiety. The results uncovered a condition known as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Realizing this, he was able to look back over his childhood and gain a better understanding as to why he had such a hard time sitting still without fidgeting. If he played baseball, he had to be the pitcher. If he played football, he had to be the quarterback. If he was in a band, he had to be the lead singer, which, during one brief segment of his life, he was.
Hank Williams
' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" was beginning to pick up significant airplay by this time and shortly thereafter was certified a Top Ten hit by Billboard Magazine. But the mood during Bradshaw's performance seemed to indicate that the house was filled with those who came to see the football player, not the country & western singer. The show lasted 15-20 minutes, then Bradshaw was quickly ushered to his dressing room, which was adorned with fan paraphernalia and flower arrangements, the most conspicuous: a large, elaborate floral wreath from Burt Reynolds.

"Howie Long and I were talking about this [Bradshaw's perceived lack of intelligence]. And I said, 'What happens when Terry's IQ drops about 10 points?' And Howie said, 'That's $10 million,' " says Burt Reynolds on ESPN Classic's SportsCentury series. Statistics don't tell his story. He never led the NFL in passing yards and threw only two more touchdown passes than interceptions in his career. All Terry Bradshaw did was win. The Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s were defined by defense, but without a quarterback, the Steel Curtain might have dented. Four times in six seasons Bradshaw guided the Steelers to NFL championships, twice as the Super Bowl MVP. Joe Montana is the only other quarterback with as many Super Bowl wins. In 14 seasons, Bradshaw was 107-51 as the starting quarterback and the Steelers reached the playoffs 10 times. His career postseason record as a starter was 14-5. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder retired after the 1983 season with 27,989 yards passing, 212 touchdowns, 210 interceptions and a completion rate of 51.9 percent. In 1989, Bradshaw was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In honor of the NFL draft taking place this weekend, here is a piece on one of the first great quarterbacks of the game. "Imagine yourself sitting on top of a great thoroughbred horse. You sit up there and you just feel that power. That's what it was like playing quarterback on that team. It was w great ride." - Terry Bradshaw Terry Paxton Bradshaw was born on September 2, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana. While at Woodlawn High School, he and his Knights went to the AAA High School Championship where they lost to the Sulphur Tors by a score of 12-9. His first public notice of arm strength was also at Woodlawn where he set a national record for throwing a javelin; 245 feet. Sports Illustrated captured the event in their feature Faces in the Crowd. With a desire to attend LSU, Terry Bradshaw failed to reach a high enough score on his ACT college entrance exam. He recieved an invitation to Louisiana Tech and accepted. As a junior in 1969, Bradshaw took his team to the Rice Bowl with the help of his achievement of 2,890 yards and number one ranking in the NCAA. With a 9-2 record they beat Akron 33-13. In his senior year, he was often pulled from the game due to large leads over opponants, hence his number three NCAA ranking. With Bradshaw's 2,314 yards, they capped the year with a 8-2 record. In 1970, the Pittsburgh Steelers took Terry Bradshaw as the first player selected in the year's draft.
