George Eddie and Family Annie Eddie was born on 23 March, 1893, the Spring Equinox. She would have been conceived near the Summer Solstice in 1892. She was the illegitimate daughter of Jessie Glennie and George Eddie. I have not yet made the link as to how Jessie knew George Eddie, generally described as a railway clerk or railway lorriman. At the time of Annie's birth, Jessie would have just turned 28. Her birthday was a couple of weeks before she gave birth. In the 1891 census she was living in Cathcart, as a domestic for the McBrides. The sister of her future husband was working with her. Annie was born in Hutchesontown. Somewhere between the 1890 and 1893, George moved from Hutchesontown to Cathcart. George was 38. Ten years before he had married Catherine Patterson Gemmell. He was still married. His wife was pregnant with Joseph at the time of Annie's birth. George would die nearly 11 years later, age 48, on 6 January, 1904. Cause of death was given as "softening of the brain, (3 months)". He is listed as dying at 369 Allison St, Glasgow. Death was registered with the Hutchestontown office. The witness for George's death was his daughter, Jean R Eddie, his eldest surviving child.
