Reggie White Reggie White, Green Bay's impossible defensive end, is known as the Minister of Defense because of the way he throws opposing linemen out of the way as he pursues a scrambling quarterback or a jittery running back. Standing 6'5" and weighing in at 290 pounds, Reggie is blessed with incredible speed and strength. Before beginning regular weight training, he could bench-press 425 pounds. He has clocked at 4.69 in the 40-yard dash-more speed than a man his size should be allowed to have. By anyone's standards, Reggie is no wimp.
"There are some people who say Christianity is for wimps, but people can say what they want," White asserts. "As far as I'm concerned, being a Christian makes you more of a man. Jesus was the bravest, toughest man who ever walked on the face of this earth. Before he died on the cross, he could have snapped his fingers and everything would have been over. But he chose not to do that and instead, died a painful death to pay for our sins.
"Studying God's Word helped keep my life on track, even though there were bad influences like drugs and crime all around me. Reading about the trials of Christ and others in the Bible makes me more committed to serving Christ."

Sizing up defensive ends Posted by Mike Sando @ 03:34:19 pm The Seahawks seemed determined to find Reggie White clones at defensive end when Mike Holmgren arrived in Seattle eight years ago. They weren't going to find players that dominant, but the idea was to find 290- or 300-pound ends who could hold up against the run and still rush the passer. The priorities changed in more recent years. Seattle started signing smaller ends such as Bryce Fisher and Grant Wistrom. ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli examines the broader league-wide trend in the same direction. DE Lamar King was the first player Seattle drafted under Holmgren. The Hawks had him beef up to about 310 pounds. They tried the same approach with DE Anton Palepoi. Antonio Cochran was another big defensive end drafted by the team. The Hawks even tried to play John Hilliard at end for a while, although he was listed as a tackle coming out. None of those experiments produced desired results. Looking back, it's a bit surprising to see that the Seahawks have drafted only four defensive ends since Holmgren's arrival: King, Cochran, Palepoi and 2005 second-round choice Darryl Tapp. The seven other defensive linemen Seattle drafted during that time were listed as tackles coming out: Hilliard, Tim Watson, Kris Kocurek, Rocky Bernard, Rashad Moore, Craig Terrill and Marcus Tubbs. Jeb Huckeba was listed as an outside linebacker, but the Seahawks tried him at defensive end (thanks for
