Name your top 5 baseball players in history.
1. Ruth (he was a great pitcher, and probably the best hitter of all time)
2. Stan Musial (highly under rated because he didn't play no the east coast)
3. Willie Mays (number 4 all time in homeruns, 3000+ hits, like 400 stolen bases)
4. Roger Clemens (gotta have a pitcher no the list.. 7 Cy Youngs says enough)
5. Ty Cobb (ya he was a bigot and a murderer, but he was a damn good ball player). kahn 07-09-2006, 09:25 PM That's a pretty good list, the only think I might change out is Roger Clemens. He is still active. I don't think you can put active players on the list of top 5 all time. Although Clemens is arguably the best pitcher of all-time... I personally think Hank Aaron should be on the list.
He displayed amazing longevity. He could hit for singles and power, and played the game right. Commander 07-10-2006, 02:37 AM

PDA View Full Version : inverted batting grips Joseph 12-11-2003, 03:28 AM Does anyone have any knowledge of any major league players who used and inverted grip on the bat? For example a right-handed batter would hold the bat with their right hand below their left hand (and vice versa for a left-handed hitter).
I have a vague recollection of a player using this style of grip. tyruschen 12-11-2003, 04:21 AM I don't knows whether it counts, but Japan pro baseball homerun king Sadaharu Oh originally hit with inverted grip on the bat in high school, then a pro coach told him try to hit left-handed and it disappeared. Isn't the same thing happended to Aaron? (reverse edtion, I remember) WiredTiger 12-11-2003, 08:37 AM I believe you are correct on Aaron. He had such strong wrists that he could hit that way and still hit for power. I don't think he ever hit in the Majors that way though. tyruschen 12-11-2003, 12:14 PM I check baseballlibrary.com and it's true that Aaron ever batted crosshanded in his early days.

You are a pretty stubborn guy.......if a hitter takes his hands to the ball and is accurate, he will get hit in the hands with the ball (ouch). Did you bother to look at the clips of Robinson, Rose and Williams that I posted for you
