22. Roger Clemens Versus Walter Johnson [Archive] - Baseball Fever
Archive Roger Clemens versus Walter Johnson History of the Game.
Baseball Fever General Baseball History of the Game PDA View Full Version : Roger Clemens versus Walter Johnson 07-28-2006, 11:11 AM I think these two are the 2 greatest all time and I have Clemens at a narrow second, what do you think? KCGHOST 07-28-2006, 11:25 AM I'd go with Johnson, but it is very close. I give him the edge because he pitched for so many bad teams. Old Mike 07-28-2006, 11:48 AM Oh good. I am very clear on this one. I pick Johnson, no wait - Clemens, I mean Johnson. I'm sure now. Crap, I mean Clemens. Heck, I give.... 07-28-2006, 12:45 PM Walter Johnson for me. He had a very low ERA, and even though he was in the deadball era for his prime, his ERA+ is extremley high(259 being his career high). His WHIP went under 1.000 9 times. He also ammased alot of wins for some pretty bad Senator teams. In fact 65 of his losses were by shutouts, and 26 of them were 1-0 scores. Both are records. A great pitcher and IMO the best pitcher of all-time. 07-28-2006, 12:46 PM In truth, I suppose I have absolutely no idea. They were born 75 years apart, and pitched under completely different conditions against completely different players, so how can we compare them heads up? ThePeach 07-28-2006, 12:54 PM
