  • Gathering Information Directions: Read about Sandra Cisneros on the Internet and in printed resources. Under each heading, list three related facts. Each fact should be written as a complet= e sentence. Born= on December 20, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, to a Mexican father and a Chicana mother, Sandra Cisneros was a shy, sensitive child who "retreated insi= de herself," especially when her six brothers ignored her. Her family was poor and moved frequently, "always in neighborhoods that appeared like France after World War II—empty lots and burned out buildings," according to Cisneros. But no matter where they lived, her parents stressed= the importance of education and taking advantage of the local library.
