From: marq@warwick.net Date: Fri, 27 Sep 96 17:15:04 edt If Dr. Seuss Were a Technical Writer Here's an easy game to play. Here's an easy thing to say: If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, And the bus is interrupted as a very last resort, And the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, Then the socket packet pocket has an error to report! If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash, And the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash, And your data is corrupted 'cause the index doesn't hash, then your situation's hopeless, and your system's gonna crash! You can't say this? What a shame sir! We'll find you Another game sir. If the label on the cable on the table at your house, Says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, But your packets want to tunnel on another protocol, That's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall, And your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss, So your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse, Then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang, 'Cause as sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang! When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy on the disk, And the microcode instructions cause unnecessary risc, Then you have to flash your memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM. Quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your mom!

You're as cuddly as a cactus,
You're as charming as an eel, Mr. Grinch.
You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!
    You're a monster, Mr. Grinch,
    Your heart's an empty hole,
Your brain is full of spiders,
You've got garlic in your soul, Mr. Grinch. I wouldn't touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole! You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch, You have termites in your smile. You have all the tender sweetness Of a seasick crocodile, Mr. Grinch. Given the choice between the two of you I'd take the seasick crocodile! You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch, You're the king of sinful sots

    73. Mary Reilly : Mr. Cranky Rates The Movies : Mary Reilly
Re Typical uncultured yanks! brett. a test a jest a little mess dr_seuss. Re a test a jest a little mess dr_seuss. This movie was so bad it was hilarious!
    http://www.mrcranky.com/movies/maryreilly.html
    Mary Reilly
    Mr. Cranky's rating:

Proving that Julia Roberts can be both unattractive and boring in the same film is hardly much of an achievement.
For the sake of Anglo-American relations I'll try my damnedest here not to insult the British. Hmm-mm. Mmm hmm mmm... Oh, screw it: Director Stephen Frears (a Brit) has done little more than make the George Romero version of "Remains of the Day." We meet a stuffy British guy named Dr. Jekyll (John Malkovich) who, in typical British fashion, is completely unable to express emotion. (Idea of the day: A great name for a BBC game show would be "Express Your Feelings!") Underneath his stiff demeanor, however, Dr. Jekyll longs to run naked through the streets and hump his chambermaid, Mary Reilly (Julia Roberts), so he creates an alter-ego, Mr. Edward Hyde, to handle such undignified tasks such as killing hookers and licking Julia's back. Proving that Julia Roberts can be both unattractive and boring in the same film is hardly much of an achievement, but it's all this film seems able to accomplish. So little actually happens in the film that you spend most of your time laughing at Dr. Jekyll's staff for not coming up with better explanations for why there are basically two Dr. Jekylls running around. Since many Brits have explained to me that they're not all stuffy dweebs, I suggest they excommunicate Stephen Frears for perpetrating stereotypes. Send him to America to direct episodes of "Married with Children."

    Dr Seuss Teaching Ideas
If you are thinking about creating a lesson based on The Cat in the Hat or other Dr Seuss books, you will find plenty of inspiration here! (See also Dr Seuss Links) If I Ran The Zoo:
If I Ran the Zoo is the story of a young boy, Gerald McGrew, and how he transformed his imaginary zoo with lots of weird and wonderful creatures. Ask the children to imagine that they are Gerald McGrew and to draw (and perhaps describe in writing or rhyme for older children) one or more of the creatures that they would have in their zoo. There's A Wocket In My Pocket:
There's A Wocket In My Pocket features more wonderful creatures, this time living in a house. The creature and the place it lives always rhyme (eg woset in the closet, a zlock behind the clock, a nooth grush on a tooth brush). Ask the children to come up with their own creatures, drawing them if they wish. The Cat In The Hat:
Get the children to draw a large outline of a hat on a piece of paper, then fill it with as many "at" words as they can think of or remember from the story.

    A Dr. Seuss Curriculum
By Fran Wisniewski Theodor Seuss Geisel , better known as "Dr. Seuss," wrote and illustrated 48 children's books including The Cat In The Hat Green Eggs and Ham One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish , and How The Grinch Stole Christmas . Geisel was born on March 2, 1904. His most famous children's book, The Cat In The Hat , was published under his pseudonym, "Dr. Seuss," in 1957. So, 2007 marks the 50th birthday of Dr. Seuss! We invite you to celebrate with this Dr. Seuss Curriculum that includes fun activities themed around some of his beloved books. Of the 48 books written by Dr. Seuss, nine of them have been chosen for this curriculum. Each book selection includes a fun, book-related activity to do with your child. And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street! Dr. Seuss's first book actually started out as poem and was later turned into a storybook. In the book, Marco is walking home from school, when his imagination goes a bit wild! Suddenly, the boring becomes the extraordinary and a simple horse-drawn-cart becomes a chariot being pulled by a zebra! Before you know it, the little horse-drawn-cart changes into many other exciting things! When you are finished reading the story, help your little one to use their imagination with this activity:

    Medical Fanboyz
Filed under: After visiting a variety of creator message boards and reading Fanboy Rampage daily, I started wondering what it would be like if the fanboy mentality took root in other professions. For instance, what if famous doctors had their own message boards complete with fawining fanboys, sycophantic medical students, and other hangers-on?
    Yeah. Great idea!
