Throughout his years in Canada, Grove misrepresented the facts of his early life, claiming that he was born to wealthy parents in Russia, was raised in Sweden, and had lived in Canada since 1892. It was not until 1973 that biographer D. O. Spettigue pieced together the true story of Groveâs early years in Europe. Born Felix Paul Greve in Radomno, Germany, in what is now Poland, Grove received his early education in Hamburg.
