Adam Francis Smith:

URL to WWW Home page: SF/F/H preferences: Most of my writing is in the form of short stories of less than 1,500 words. Classifying a genre is a challenge, though I'd say speculative with a sci-fi horror taint. Think of Outer Limits and you're close. Though I do try for an ironic twist, I try not to make my readers wait for the end before they know what is actually going on. I've been acused of writing flowery pieces with an overabundance of imagery (could be my poetic tendencies), but I don't write to show off, just to show. Feel free to tell me it's "over the top." Publications, if any: I have only recently considered writing for publication. I consider myself a decent judge and am I own harshest critic. I welcome suggestions as to potential markets, being paid not being the most important criteria. Most important would be to see my work in the company of artists whose work I can respect and perhaps even envy. Anything else you think would interest other members: I'm 39, married 1 year, will be trying for children in the Spring (we have a grand plan). I operate a commercial real estate appraisal firm in Itasca, Illinois (Chicago suburb), which has recently allowed for more time off, for reading and writing, painting, photography, camping and travel.

He later systematized the ethical teachings he had propounded in his lectures and published them in his first major work, Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759). In 1763 he resigned from the university to accept the position of tutor to Henry Scott, 3rd Duke of Buccleuch, whom he accompanied on an 18-month tour of France and Switzerland. Smith met and associated with many of the leading Continental physiocrats who based their political and economic doctrines on the supremacy of natural law, wealth, and order. He was particularly influenced by Fran§ois Quesnay and Anne Robert Jacques Turgot, whose theories Smith later adapted in part to form a basis for his own. From 1766 to 1776, he lived in Kirkcaldy preparing

Should Congress act to lower the cost of prescription drugs? If so, should Congress create a Medicare drug benefit? Congress should act to lower the cost of prescription drugs and a Medicare drug benefit should be part of the solution. We must allow the uninsured to pool together to negotiate better prices for medicines, and, within reasonable costs, subsidize insurance for those who can't afford it. Should the Snake River dams be torn down and timber harvests limited to protect endangered species? We should initially focus on habitat restoration and limiting the harvest of salmon. Habitat restoration will require limitations on activities, including logging and development, but, done properly, growth can continue under these new rules. I don't support dam removal yet due to the cost and uncertainty of the effect.
