    Located in West Africa, Burkina Faso has an area of 274,200 square kilometers and shares borders with six countries: Côte d'Ivoire on the southwest, Ghana and Togo to the south, Benin in the south east, Mali in the northwest, and Niger in the east. It is a landlocked Sahelian country, which means it has no outlets to the sea. It uses the ports of neighbouring coastal states. Burkina Faso is situated between 18 ° and 12 ° north latitude. It is irrigated by three rivers: the Mouhoun, Nazinon and Nakambé (Volta Black Volta Red, White Volta).
