I was recently diagnosed with Diabetes II. My doctor diagnosed it and then sort of brushed me off when I had questions. I have one question for you. I have been itching LIKE CRAZY! Mostly my face. I have a rash around my mouth and now on my forehead and temples. It's driving me nuts. First it was just around the mouth (for the past 5 or 6 months). Could this be related to irregular blood sugar? Could it be a vitamin deficiency? Hopefully you can give me some insight on this! Thanks!
I would suggest you consider changing doctors. A diagnosis of diabetes requires careful regulation of your blood glucose and A1C (glycosated hemoglobin) to prevent long term complications. Find a doctor that has a greater interest in your diabetes.
One of two possibilities come to mind. Either you have an allergic reaction to a new product / drug you are using or you have an infection. Doesn't sound like a vitamin deficiency though. Would suggest you go see a doctor as this is not normal nor should you have to put up with the itching.
With regards to a skin allergic reaction. Have you started using new products on the area? Even consider a new shampoo or creme rinse for your hair.

Diabetes Type 2 More than 90 percent of people with diabetes have type 2. In this disease, the body loses its ability to make efficient use of insulin to turn glucose (sugar) into energy. Sugar buildup in the blood can cause both short-term and long-term problems.
Diabetes Type 1 In type 1 diabetes, cells of the pancreas that produce insulin are destroyed. Without injections of insulin, the body of a person with type 1 diabetes cannot turn blood glucose into energy.

The condition results from a defect in the body's ability to produce or utilize insulin . Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas that is necessary to convert glucose into a form that can be used by cells for growth and energy. Diabetes causes abnormally high glucose levels (hyperglycemia), circulatory problems, and nerve damage.
Diabetes cannot be cured, but it often can be managed with proper medical care, diet, and regular exercise. Types There are three main types of diabetes: type 1 (accounts for 5-10% of cases), type 2 (accounts for about 90% of cases), and gestational diabetes (affects approximately 4% of pregnant women in the United States).

The Diabetes Center
~ Introduction to Diabetes ~ Diabetes is a very big topic! To make the diagnosis, complications and treatment of diabetes more understandable, we have broken "diabetes" it into several dozen diabetes topic pages which go into more and more detail. Our diabetes search engine will help you find specific diabetes information, or you can come back to this introduction page to see each of the diabetes topic pages listed. Last updated 1/14/07. Diabetes is a disorder characterized by hyperglycemia or elevated blood glucose (blood sugar). Our bodies function best at a certain level of sugar in the bloodstream. If the amount of sugar in our blood runs too high or too low, then we typically feel bad. Diabetes is the name of the condition where the blood sugar level consistently runs too high. Diabetes is the most common endocrine disorder. Sixteen million Americans have diabetes, yet many are not aware of it. African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans have a higher rate of developing diabetes during their lifetime. Diabetes has potential long term complications that can affect the kidneys, eyes, heart, blood vessels and nerves. A number of pages on this web site are devoted to the prevention and treatment of the complications of diabetes. Types of Diabetes Although doctors and patients alike tend to group all patients with diabetes together, the truth is that there are two different types of diabetes which are similar in their elevated blood sugar, but different in many other ways. Throughout the remainder of these web pages we will be referring to the different types of diabetes when appropriate, but when the topic pertains to both types of diabetes we will use the general term "diabetes".
