        This peer lead program educates students about tobacco use and its deadly effects, gives information about the deceptive advertising techniques of tobacco companies and reinforces a teens decision to remain smoke free. Knock Out Tobacco is ideal for youth in the middle school setting. Trainings are scheduled around the schools/agencies needs. Presentations are delivered usually during school hours or in an after school setting. Visual Aids/props and resources are available for use after the completion of training. KO Tobacco teen leaders are trained to deliver presentations within their own school, (8th grade students mentoring to the 6th grade), church, or youth group. Teen leaders receive training on tobacco drug knowledge, visual aids and presentation skills by a certified prevention specialist. Presentations are designed to be team teached, therefore, a minimum of 4 youth need to be present for trainings. KO Tobacco is an opportunity for teens of varied backgrounds, skills and abilities to participate and become involved in their community and school activities. KO Tobacco is sponsored by the City of Aurora Youth and Sports Activities Department in collaboration with the Kane County Health Department.

      Prevention Overview
      The Florida Drug Control Strategy in 1999 defined prevention as the linchpin to bringing down drug abuse in Florida. The core principals for all state-level prevention efforts in Florida include: collaboration of key stakeholders and agencies; support community anti-drug coalitions, braiding of funding resources from multiple sources, and the use of the SAMHSA Strategic Prevention Framework model whose steps include:
      • Profiling community needs, resources, and readiness;
