The health/safety of our students is a top priority. I am happy to see from the survey that the percentage of our 9th graders using alcohol and marijuana has decreased from 1999 to 2003. However, there are increases in other grade levels that are alarming. If we lose even one student to drugs, alcohol or suicide, that is one too many. I know that all parents want their children to be healthy, safe, happy and successful in school. The survey research stresses that parents have more credibility than anyone else in helping prevent substance abuse by their children. We really need parents informed and involved. We are taking the following action:

If you don't want to catch yourself sneaking glances at your child's eyes over the dinner table, trying to ascertain whether or not they are bloodshot because you Googled signs of drug use earlier that afternoon; you hopefully want to raise a drug-free teen before that happens. There are perils of peer pressure around every corner for your teenager, and drugs are just one of the many deadly enemies that you can help them fend off. LOVE AS THE ANSWER
Of course you love your child and this seems like it would be obvious to him. But, kids who use drugs suffer from lack of confidence and low self-esteem. The more loved and secure your child feels, the less apt he's going to be to look to something else. Remind your child as often as you can that you love him. It's easy to do it when he's a baby, snuggling up to him and smooching him at will. adparams.getadspec('c_billboard1');

Kaitlyn’s Promise Awareness Bracelets We are accepting donations for these awareness bracelets for a couple of reasons. First and foremost is that we hope that it will make the kids remember Kaitlyn’s Promise and get to an adult if they have a friend that is in trouble. We are also raising money in the hopes that we can have enough to award three scholarships next year to teens who have turned their lives around because of what happened to our family and to keep Kaitlyn’s Promise. It is our dream to see Kaitlyn’s Promise become an affordable place where families can reach out for help if someone they love has a drug problem. We realize that this is a HUGE dream to have but I believe that we can do this and make what happened to Kaitlyn make some sense to us.
