Im not sure if all of my friends out there know it but I have been compiling the win/loss records for thousands of Colleges and Organizations (Clubs, Towns, Military) in my "spare" time for the past five years or so. I havent completed my effort but its an ongoing battle. For some schools (such as the University of Illinois), I have completed records from their inception of football while at others, I have them listed but youll find missing info. Give me time... Ill have this finished up eventually. The records compiled here were obtained from numerous sources including websites, books, printed programs and magazines. Select a category below to continue:

Game of the Month: Football
by Dagonell
Surprise! Football is period, although our ancestors would probably have sneered at all the rules and regulations we've added to our game. Medieval football was called "Gameball", `game' being the Old English word for fight or battle. The rules were much simpler ... there weren't any! First team to get the ball into their opposing team's goal, wins. The ancient Greeks and Romans played "Harpastum", a game which combines elements of Soccer, Rugby and American Football. The Romans imported this game into England during the time of Julius Caesar; however it wasn't until the Middle Ages that the game really caught on. The sides were seldom equal. There were no limits to the number of players. Women as well as men played. In a friendly pickup game among knights on a campaign, the goals were probably only a few dozen yards apart. In regular games between neighboring villages, with everything the phrase `traditional rivals' implies, it was not unusual for the goals to be hundreds of yards or even one or two miles apart. The ball was a pig's bladder, at first stuffed with dried peas and later inflated with air. We still refer to a football as a "pigskin" even today, when modern footballs are made from cowhide. From

Derbies between these two clubs often draw crowds around the 120,000 mark. Structure of the game
The game in India is administered by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), which is affiliated to the regional Asian Football Confederation, as well as to the worldwide body FIFA. The Indian national team has entered into the regional Asian Cup competition as well as the World Cup. The Indian women's national team has also played in various competitions. Youth football is administered by the governmental Sports Authority of India. The game is also administered at state levels by state football associations, some of which predate the AIFF. report this
With the signing of Morten Andersen, the Michael Koenen experiment in Atlanta is now over. Koenen will punt, kick off, and handle any 50-yard field goal attempts. Andersen will take care of the short stuff. And Frank Corral remains the last player to serve as both a punter and a kicker for a full season. Corral kicked and punted for the Rams in 1980 and 1981 after kicking for the team in his first two seasons. He finished seventh in the NFL in punting average and converted 17-of-26 field goal attempts 1981. But one awful game took away his job security. Corral missed three field goals and had a fourth kick blocked in a 20-17 loss to the Niners. The Rams entered that game 4-3. They would finish the season 6-10. The next off-season, the Rams brought in youngsters John Misko and Mike Lansford to punt and kick, respectively. The Rams had signed young "camp kickers" in the past; Corral would rest his leg during training camp and coast through preseason games. But in 1982, the Rams started tracking the progress of their three kickers carefully. Corral didn't ramp up his effort in response to the new competition. "I wasn't going blow-to-blow with those guys," he told The Sporting News. "They were kicking the thunder out of it. If I tried to do that, I could have blown my leg and ruined my career. Besides, I've never been a pretty practice kicker." Misko said that he easily outpaced Corral on punts. "Let's face it, he's not Ray Guy," Misko said.

53. History Of GFC
Ballinacree, situated 3 miles from the town of Oldcastle, Co. Meath.
http://homepage.eircom.net/~ballinacree/football_history.htm
The History of
St. Bridgets GFC 1962 - 2000
The Club and the Park
St. Brigid's G.F.C. came into being in the autumn and winter of 1962. The first AGM was held in Katsie Brown's cottage in December of 1962. The clubs first top-table committee consisted of: Chairman: Seamus Maguire (RIP)
Secretary:
Joe Blake (RIP)
Treasurer
:Patrick Connaughton (RIP) The meeting was attended by many from the locality who were playing with neighbouring clubs up to then. They all expressed an interest to play for the new club and their transfer arrangements were started. The club was named St. Brigid's, Killeagh because at that time the name Ballinacree could not be used according to the Meath County Board. Mrs. Kidman rented the existing field to the club for £20 per year for the first eight years and then she sold it to the club for £1,000. On St. Stephens Day 1962 volunteers from the parish erected a fence around the pitch and attempted to level ridges on the field. By 1976 it was time to develop the pitch and the playing field was extended by 20 metres. A new concrete post fence was erected around the pitch. The existing wall that runs along the roadside was completed in early 1978. Work on the dressing rooms commenced in 1978 and was completed in 1980. All the labour was donated by local volunteer's on Saturdays. The cost of this development in the 70's was over £6,000, which was financed by various fund-raising activities in the parish. The pitch was officially opened in April 1983 when the club hosted a match between Walterstown and Laragh, Meath senior champions and their Cavan counterparts respectively.
