The Cincinnati Daily Gazette this Sic semper tyrannis Sic semper tyrannis Sic semper had reserved its governance for the states. Yet by making it plain that this is his Stanton took charge, dictating messages and taking evidence, with Tanner pressed into service as his secretary. At last, at seven-twenty-two in the morning, Tanner writes:
Hay put his stamp on the words as we usually hear them. That was adequate warrant for a century, and perhaps should be still. He was there; he had no plausible motive to lie and no reason to misremember. It is possible that there is an obscure source for the epitaph in the twenty-five years between the event and the biography, but the famous words seem remarkably fragile, insecurely sourced and late in arriving, like so many other moments in history that seem sure until they are inspected, and become more uncertain the longer they are sought.

Forage -Livestock Systems
This site provides links to Fact Sheets Tutorials " Ye Olde Forage Library ", and Other WWW sites having information relevant to forage-livestock systems. Our goal is to provide practical information that farmers can use to develop new or improve established forage-livestock systems. A forage-livestock system is the combination of forages, livestock, management, and marketing that a manager uses to meet personal and business goals. An effective system optimizes the strengths and minimizes the weaknesses of the social, economic, and ecological environment in which it functions. Just as we live in a three-dimensional world, a forage-livestock system should be viewed in the three dimensions of :
  • Forage-Livestock System Components, Forage-Livestock System Production Centers, and Sustainable Agriculture
A forage-livestock system is much more than a grazing system. The key to a successful forage-livestock system is unified visioning, planning, and marketing; the management aspects of the agricultural system not just production. University approves "no-loan" financial aid program
      By Bill Beaver
Senior Writer Published: Monday, February 5th, 2001 The University Board of Trustees last week approved a new financial aid plan that will eliminate the requirement for students to borrow funds from the University as part of their aid packages. Financial aid will be calculated with additional University grants in place of loans, saving the average financial aid student from accumulating between $15,000 to $20,000 in debt during his or her four-year tenure in college. The new plan will take effect with the class of 2005 and will be used during the renegotiations of financial aid packages for the classes of 2002, 2003 and 2004. "We feel that with today's initiative that Princeton is really available to any family. [Qualified students] can easily manage to come to Princeton with little financial obligation if they can demonstrate need," President Shapiro said during a press conference in Nassau Hall on Jan. 27. "We wanted to feel secure enough that we were doing everything we could reasonably do to eliminate the financial barriers to a Princeton education," he said.

You are here: Archive Home Gilbert's Plays Ages Ago Early Days
by Andrew Crowther Whenever the story of Gilbert and Sullivan is told, Gilbert's musical play Ages Ago always rates a mention. There are two facts which everyone knows about it: that it uses the device of portraits stepping out of their frames, reused in Ruddigore ; and that it was at a rehearsal of Ages Ago that Gilbert first met Sullivan. These are probably its greatest claims to fame today. It is, however, more than simply a historical curiosity: it has a period charm of its own, and has a warmth unusual in Gilbert's comic works. It was set to music by Frederic Clay, and was first performed at the Gallery of Illustration on November 22nd, 1869. The Gallery of Illustration was a little theatre in Regent Street, where a small cast headed by Thomas German Reed performed intimate musical entertainments. Even the theatre's euphemistic name emphasises the self-consciously "respectable" nature of the entertainment the company offered. They did not offer leggy burlesque or blood-and-thunder melodrama, but gentle, civilised, intelligent amusement. And it was in the intimate atmosphere of this theatre that Gilbert first developed his distinctive style. Ages Ago was the second of his musical plays for the Gallery. His first
