Modern scholars refer to the myths and study them in an attempt to throw light on the religious and political institutions of Ancient Greece and on the Ancient Greek civilization, and to gain understanding of the nature of myth-making itself. Greek mythology is embodied explicitly in a large collection of narratives and implicitly in representational arts, such as vase-paintings and votive gifts . Greek myth explains the origins of the world and details the lives and adventures of a wide variety of gods, goddesses, heroes, heroines , and other mythological creatures . 1. I'm sure I stumbled upon one once, but I can't find it again...are there any websites that give you the ancient Greek spelling of the Gods' names, and/or Greek pronunciations?
2. I remember reading that Pluto was associated with wealth/money since gold and other valuable minerals come from the Earth, and he resides under the Earth...does anyone know if Hades has this same association?

Jump to: navigation search Greek mythology encompasses the beliefs and rituals of Classical Greece . It was followed for over three thousand years until the establishment of Christianity and Islam . Unlike many ancient religions, most of Greek mythology came from the telling of stories by the ancient Greeks , concerning their gods and heroes, the nature of the world and their own cult and ritual practices. Different versions of the tales have created conflicting stories or combined with each other for more epics.
