The Geophysical Institute was established by an Act of Congress in 1946 and has earned an international reputation for studying the earth and its physical environment at high latitudes and training students in related disciplines. It is one of the few institutes in the country where scientists study a whole spectrum of geophysical processes ranging from the center of the earth to the center of the sun and beyond.       Over in the Financial room we had a bank, a credit union, a credit counselor and the financial aid part of our Employee Assistance Program or EAP. In Intellectual we had our two largest institutions of higher education, UNLV and the newly renamed College of Southern Nevada, along with EAP legal. The Emotional room had several counseling and therapy services.
      One indicator that Zappos is becoming a larger company is the number of health clubs and gyms that are offering us discounts. We had 6 gyms along with an eye care center, 2 dental services, 4 medical outfits and a smoke-cessation program. For nutrition, we had a couple of weight loss clincs and 3 nutritional vendors. All in all, a great and comprehensive job by our

And throughout the years, this agency has proved to be an effective and well-respected participant in the community outreach effort to improve quality of life for the elderly in Southeast Georgia. The mission of the Southeast Georgia Area Agency on Aging (SEGa AAA) is to develop a comprehensive, coordinated system of services to promote the independence and continued well-being of older residents in the eighteen counties of Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brantley, Brooks, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Pierce, Tift, Turner, and Ware. At least 250,000 hot, nutritious meals are served annually to senior citizens via home delivered meals and congregate meals at the numerous senior centers strategically located throughout the region. Through its qualified service providers, the SEGa AAA furnishes seniors an array of services including Alzheimer's adult day care and respite, legal assistance, long term care ombudsman, homemaker services, and the Community Care Services Program (CCSP). As an alternative to nursing home placement, CCSP provides community based and in-home services for frail persons who meet Medicaid eligibility requirements. Through a toll-free number, clients can access a nursing staff that evaluates their situation and, if needed, assigns them to a case manager who ensures they receive the services that help maintain their maximum independent functioning and prevent institutionalization.

    Introduction
    The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) was enacted on February 5, 1993. The new law is effective on August 5, 1993, for most employers. If a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is in effect on that date, the Act becomes effective on the expiration date of the CBA or February 5, 1994, whichever is earlier. The U.S. Department of Labor's Employ-ment Standards Administration, Wage and Hour Division, administers and enforces FMLA for all private, state and local government employees, and some federal employees. FMLA entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job- protected leave each year for specified family and medical reasons. An eligible employee's right to FMLA leave begins on August 5, 1993; any leave taken before that date does not count as FMLA leave. The law contains provisions on employer coverage; employee eligibility for the law's benefits; entitlement to leave, maintenance of health benefits during leave, and job restoration after leave; notice and certification of the need for FMLA leave; and, protections for employees who request or take FMLA leave. The law also requires employers to keep certain records.
