Press Release

Dutch Government Legalizes Prescription Pot Pharmacies Allowed To Distribute Medical Cannabis Government To License Prescription Pot Growers The Hague, the Netherlands: Pharmacies may now legally stock and supply medicinal cannabis for patients who have a doctor's prescription, as a result of new federal regulations that went into effect Monday. The law change makes the Netherlands the first nation to formally regulate the use of medicinal marijuana in the same manner as it does other prescription drugs.
NORML Foundation Executive Director Allen St. Pierre applauded the policy change. "If we are to hold cannabis up to the same standards of safety and efficacy that we hold other drugs, then the Dutch government's decision to regulate it is long overdue," he said. "Unfortunately in the US, our government refuses to acknowledge marijuana's relative safety or medical utility thus forcing patients to go to the black market and risk arrest to obtain the medicine they need. Clearly, the Dutch model is a safer, efficient and more compassionate alternative." Under the new law, Dutch health officials will license medicinal marijuana cultivators to supply medical-grade cannabis to pharmacies. Licensing will be overseen by the Netherlands' Office of Medicinal Cannabis (BMC) of the Health Ministry and may begin as early as next month. The BMC was established in 2000 to study and regulate the use of medical marijuana.

I think it's time to set the record straight...the only reason there was any opposition to Iraq action was because of the axis dealing blood money from Iraq.

I agree with Cam and Carla.
BTW - there was a documentary about the archaeology of Iraq and Saddam's
grandiose reconstruction of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon - with bricks bearing his name. As Nebuchadnezzar had stamped his name on many of the bricks used in the building of the Hanging Gardens - so did Saddam in his reconstruction. Winning the peace: one way or the other, Saddam Hussein is very unlikely to survive as leader of Iraq, but the question of what comes next is the real puzzler.
Let's assume that everything goes according to plan in Iraq. For the British and American military, the plan calls for a rapid collapse of Iraqi defences, a swift drive into the heart of Baghdad, and the quick capture or killing of Saddam Hussein. Then what?
Most experts agree that the removal of Saddam Hussein will be the easy bit. For the United States in particular winning the peace looks to be a very difficult, if not impossible, task.
No matter how smart the so-called smart bombs are, they are still devices filled with high explosives that are designed to kill people; they can't tell the difference between an evil dictator and an innocent child. The removal of Saddam Hussein will likely cost some Iraqi civilians their lives. Also, it's unlikely most Iraqi soldiers want to die to save Saddam's neck, but they have no choice. Either they join up and fight for their country or their leader will have them killed.
Each Iraqi victim will add to the already large pool of anti-American resentment both inside the country and outside it. This is the danger that most experts see as the greatest one to come out of an invasion of Iraq. Even before any exchange of gunfire a lot of damage had been done. A conference of the world's smaller nations was held in Malaysia in February 2003. The 116-member Non-Aligned Movement denounced President Bush's "axis of evil" label for member states Iraq, Iran, and North Korea. They described the tag itself as "a form of psycho logical and political terrorism." At the two day conference leader after leader of the mostly developing countries took the podium to denounce U.S. action against Iraq as bullying. They also called on Saddam Hussein to disarm.

Iraq
Iraq, located in southwestern Asia, is a country with an ancient civilization. It lies northwest of the Persian Gulf. Southern Iraq is a flat, clay plain. The Syrian desert stretches into Iraq from northern Saudi Arabia. The only mountainous area is formed by part of the Zagros Mountains near the border with Iran (Persia). Iraq is bordered by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran. The climate varies in Iraq from extreme, humid heat in the summer in the south to the cold winter nights of the northern mountains. The average annual rainfall varies from 7 to 11 inches in the plain. Most of Iraq’s people are farmers who work near the great Tigris and Euphrates rivers. These two rivers flow south- eastwards through Iraq into the Persian Gulf. They and their tributaries provide water for irrigating the otherwise dry farmland.
A small proportion of Iraqis are nomads who wander through the desert with herds of animals which provide food and clothing. Iraq’s main product and export is petroleum, which has been found in many places in the country.

After defeating the Spanish fleet, America took control of Cuba and the Philippine Islands in 1898, as spoils of winning that war. Support for this war was generated by the Hearst newspapers under the cry, "Remember the Maine." The Maine was a U. S. battleship that was in the harbor of Havana, Cuba. It was sunk under very mysterious circumstances, possibly by those attempting to foment war between Spain and the United States. An alphabetical list of countries where the U.
