REALITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST: HOME WHAT YOU CAN'T LEARN FROM A 30-SECOND SOUNDBITE Living here in America, a country with a profoundly racist past, it is tempting to view the Middle East in comparable terms. What little is shown on TV gives the impression of an impoverished, brown-skinned population at war with a reasonably wealthy "Western" style nation, and we almost instinctively want to superimpose our own faults and biases on the situation. That is, it seems logical to us to assume that the brown-skinned population is "oppressed," because that's the way we've always done it here in the good old US of A. This analysis is not only logically unsound, but is based on assumptions that are factually incorrect. The first assumption that most Americans make is that Israel is a ?white? or ?European? country, of one majority race. The fundamental flaw in this assumption is that Jews are simply not a ?race.? Although all Jews can ultimately trace their ancestry back to ancient Israel, the Jews have lived for many centuries scattered across the globe, intermarrying with other peoples, and the Jewish population of Israel reflects that history. Although there are certainly many Jews in Israel who appear ?European,? there are also Asian Jews from Manchuria, Shanghai, Japan, Indonesia, and Burma; hispanic Jews from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and other South American countries; and the very black Falas Mura Jews from Ethiopia. Most significantly, roughly 40% of the Jewish population of Israel is in fact Arab. Yes, I said

HISTORY OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL
With Allegorical References
Forward:
The absolute facts of ancient history, perhaps even modern history to some degree, are an interaction of legend and fact. Most of the stories regarding the lives of the people below come to us in writing only from the accounts documented in the Bible. Some of the earliest stories were recounted by word of mouth for scores of centuries before they were ever written down. What we present here is the Bible's account, and the interraction of these stories, as allegories architected by God, with their intended purpose a divine explanation of the reconciliation of mankind with God through through the unprecedented appearance of Jesus Christ.
Abraham
Almost 4000 years ago, a man named Abraham was born in Ur, a town in the southern part of Mesopotamia. The place corresponds today to the southern part of what is now the country of Iraq somewhere just above the present country of Kuwait, near where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet. When he was a very young man, his father moved the family several hundred miles northwest to a place called Haran in what is now southern Turkey (a few hundred miles south of the Black Sea). When his father died, God called Abraham to leave Haran and make a journey to the southwest, down to a land called Canaan (now Israel and Palestine), a lnad whose natives (the Canaanites) bore striking similarites to the indians of North America. .Abraham got his family together: his wife and some slaves, including his mistress, and his nephew Lot, and together they joined Abraham who obeyed God's command. When they got to Canaan, God instructed Abraham to settle there.

Our program was greeted with great enthusiasm from major governmental agencies, such as the Ministry of Education. School psychologists within the Ministry expressed interest in the training because they were looking for more effective ways to help the large number of school-aged children in Israel who are suffering from PTSD.

i thought about reviewing the presentation, but after reading the thumb down reviews , i dont really thing there is any future , both sides telling each one a different story , which to each one the other one story seems like a far from the truth fantasy . but for what i know and learned , this presentation presents a studied history , could be that not all history facts were entered to it , but surely every fact in it is true , which i cant say the same on any other document or claim that the Palestinians raise .

Part II-From War to Democratic Compromises The Mid-East wars
The UN Partition Resolution 181 could not stop military engagements. Israel may have been technically correct in its claim that several Arab countries had attacked it.
However, only Syria, Jordan and Egypt had any semblance of a military. Jordan had the Jordan League, 15,000 soldiers under British command that confined itself to the Jerusalem area. The total number of military personnel in the Arab armies confronting Israel did not exceed 10,000. The Palestinians had no regular army and no unified command. During the struggle, they had about 7,000 fighters. Israel had a regular army of 15,000 and another 45,000 persons who had armaments. It had unified commands in the Irgun and Haganah, weapons that included artillery, which had been captured from the British, and a military trained during World War II and by post-war battles with the British. The Zionists did not have tremendous military power. Nevertheless, their armaments and organization exceeded those of the powers in conflict with them. In 1956 , Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal, an event that greatly affected France's and Great Britain's economies and their international prestige. At that time, closing the canal and Straights of Tiran to Israel, only mildly affected Israel's trade. To Israel, Egypt's action continued an undeclared war in which insurgents were entering Israel through Egypt, and forecasted future problems for the Israeli state. Its strategy for survival dictated it had to act from strength and reduce their adversary's strength. Israel seized the moment. It invaded the Sinai and, within a few days, its armies, almost unopposed by any Egyptian force, reached the Suez Canal. Coincidentally, French and British Paratroopers, assumed to be acting in coordination with Israel, attacked Egypt. Eisenhower forced the attackers to retreat, restored the status quo and brought the downfall of the Eden government.

    Inside Israel
    History
The history of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel goes back some 3,500 years, as recorded in the Bible. Jewish cultural, national and spiritual identity was formed in Israel, where there has been an uninterrupted presence of Jews, even after the majority were forced into exile 2,000 years ago. No nation can claim more solid religious, political and legal rights to a country than the Jewish people can to Israel. In 1948, after millennia of persecution culminating in the Holocaust, the modern state of Israel was formed. Despite enormous challenges, Israel became a vibrant democracy, a scientific and cultural capital, a military power and a global force for progress and peace. Most of the tyrannical Arab regimes that surround Israel never have accepted its existence and, time and again, have rejected its peace overtures. Israelis have been forced to defend themselves in repeated wars, and against a merciless onslaught of terrorism from groups sponsored by these hostile regimes. Yet Israel has persevered, defending its right to exist while maintaining a profound yearning for peace.

Home Study Abroad Israel Historical roots The first historical record of the word "Israel" comes from an Egyptian stele documenting military campaigns in Canaan. Although this stele which referred to a people (the determinative for 'country' was absent) is dated to approximately 1211 BCE, Jewish tradition holds that the Land of Israel has been a Jewish Holy Land and Promised land for 3,000 years. The land of Israel holds a special place in Jewish religious obligations, encompassing Judaism's most important sites — including the remains of the First and Second Temples of the Jewish King, Solomon. Connected with these two versions of the temple are religiously significant rites which stand as the origin for many aspects of modern Judaism. Starting around the 11th century BCE the first of a series of Jewish kingdoms and states established intermittent rule over the region that lasted more than a millennium. Under Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and (briefly) Sassanian rule, Jewish presence in the region dwindled due to mass expulsions. In particular, the failure of the Bar Kochba Revolt against the Roman Empire in 132 CE resulted in a large-scale expulsion of Jews. It was during this time that the Romans gave the name Syria Palaestina to the geographic area, in an attempt to erase Jewish ties to the land. The Mishnah and Jerusalem Talmud, two of Judaism's most important religious texts, were composed in the region during this period. The Muslims conquered the land from the Byzantine Empire in 638 CE. The area was ruled by various Muslim states (interrupted by the rule of the Crusaders) before becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in 1517.

Would you please publish that movie here, actually, we need to see and hear in order to decide.
Thank you! Unregistered 12-05-2006, 04:11 PM That's very interesting news, and I never doubted Israels accuracy at hitting Hezbollah targets. I mean one could close his eyes and pull the trigger and hit 2-3 of them running away. What I'd prefer to see is video footage or other proof the captured Israeli Soldiers, that Olmert and the IDF left behind, are still among the living. This, I'd hazard a guess isn't possible. Since they most likely died during torture in an Iranian or Syrian base. If I were in the IDF, I'd quit. Theirs is the only modern day free world Army to decide that leaving soldiers behind is not too high a price to pay for a pretended peace. This decision by Olmert/Peretz/Halutz/Livni has singlehandedly served to prove to the world, that Hezbollah/Hamas were correct. Jews who think like those leaders, do not deserve a Country. At least the Muslims allow the individual to decide who becomes a martyr, in Israel their elected officials do it for them. Makes me wanna barf just thinking about it. HELLBOAT 06-05-2007, 06:48 AM
