Certificate in Technical Chinese
Individuals who use Chinese in their work, but have never studied Chinese formally, will benefit from these courses. This new certificate helps professionals acquire social and reading ability in Mandarin Chinese, including technical Chinese. In order to receive the certificate you must complete a minimum of 18 credits in approved Chinese language courses All courses are available at a distance allowing you to develop your Chinese language skills while working full time and traveling.
Additional Opportunities In addition to the Master of Engineering in Technical Japanese, the University of Wisconsin-Madison offers a certificate program and three series of courses in technical Japanese, and technical Chinese. The certificate program and course series provide alternatives for professionals and students needing to develop technical Japanese skills and knowledge but not wishing to formalize their studies with an advanced degree. The Chinese course requires no previous experience with the Chinese language. All technical Japanese courses offered by the UW-Madison focus on translating and understanding Japanese printed materials and audiovisual materials. These courses stress the technical vocabulary not found in courses that emphasize literature or conversation.
