Jump to: navigation search Japanese mythology is a very difficult system of beliefs that includes Shinto and Buddhist traditions . The Shinto religion alone has a very big number of kami Japanese for " gods " or " spirits Most Japanese myths, as generally known today, are based on the Kojiki Nihonshoki and some other books. The Kojiki or "Record of Ancient Things" is the oldest known book of myths legends , and history of Japan . The Shintoshu explains origins of Japanese gods and goddesses from a Buddhist point of view while the Hotsuma Tsutae has a very different version of mythology. One notable thing of Japanese mythology is that it explains the origin of the Imperial family , and assigned them divinity . The Japanese word for the Emperor of Japan, tennō (天皇), means "heavenly emperor

Daruma Netsuke Japanische Kultur und Kunst wurden durch einen weit verbreiteten Glauben an allerlei Götter, Dämonen und übernatürliche Geister beeinflusst. Die Wurzel der japanischen Mythologie liegen in der Shinto Religion, im Taoismus und im Zen Buddhismus.
Daruma und japanische Mythologie
Daruma ist der Gründer des Zen Buddhismus in Japan (552 AD). Er war ursprünglich ein indischer Priester namens Bodhidharma. Eines Tages brach er von Indien auf, überquerte China und kam nach Japan um dort den Buddhismus zu verbreiten. Der Legende nach überquerte er das Meer zwischen China und Japan auf einem Bambus stehend. Daruma wird zumeist in meditierender Pose dargestellt. Angeblich hatte er den Gebrauch seiner Arme und Beine durch neun Jahre langes Meditieren in einer Höhle verloren. Deswegen wird er oft als Daruma Puppe ohne Beine und Arme dargestellt.
