Random Things
With most of my focus on the Men's Spring Knitting Retreat, I've had a few things building up in the queue.
Fiber To Scarf Exchange
One of Ted's other projects (where DOES he find the time?) has been a Fiber to Scarf exchange. He basically got a group of spinners/knitters to agree to send him some roving and in exchange, get someone else's roving and make them a scarf from it.
I stupidly ignored the intimidation factor of spinning someone else's fiber and then making something creative in the form of a scarf...I ignored it at least until the fiber arrived, and then I was like, "shit...what can I make with this?".
It was even more intimidating not knowing which of Ted's extremely competent readers/friends I was spinning/knitting for.
It was even more intimidating when, I found out it was for Kate...someone who's been around on-line knitting forums forever, and also works and instructs and designs for a yarn store.
Oh well, now that it's over, I can share with you the full story.

Published by lolly under Book Business / Reviews PS Elements I have some great books on the shelf. A lot less than I used to. I culled a few months ago, and now the real gems remain. I saved several books to read in this element of Project Spectrum, but until recently, I have not had much time or desire to sit down and read. I had plans to get through some of the gardening books and nature and adventure books on the shelf. They can wait for another day - those topics are always of interest to me.  I think I am just an earthy girl. I am reading The Wild Trees by Richard Preston, right now. The book centers on the amazing coastal redwood trees found on in the Pacific Northwest, and the botanists that study them. The book reminds me of

It is usually a combination of three factors that determine the stitches I use. Inspiration, Yarn and who the design is for. In my publications I always work to a central inspiration theme. This season the book 'Dauphine' was inspired by Sophia Ford Coppola's beautiful and feminine film 'Marie Antoinette'. I wanted to reflect the mood and feel of this collection in the yarns and designs, soft colours and stitch structures, so I used a lot of lace patterns and fitted garments which enhance this feminine inspiration. When I was given the opportunity to put together my own yarn range I thought it important to select yarns that really inspired ... [read more...]

59. Knitting Kitty Web Ring
You MUST have a PREVIOUS and NEXT link on your knitting kitty ring code. Having a link that goes straight to the join page defeats the purpose of a ring.
http://knittingkitty.blogspot.com/
Knitting Kitty Net Ring
Lets face it: Most knitters own a cat (or cats). It's a stereo-type that's generally true, and honey, ain't nothing wrong with that. This ring is for knitters who happen to have the pleasure of a cat's ( or cats ) company in their daily lives.
Knitting Kitty Net Ring Guide Lines
You must be a knitter and have a knitting blog.
Of course, you must have a cat and mention them in your ( regularly updated ) knitting blog from time to time.
The ring code must appear somewhere on your knitting blog, not on any other page.
The ring code must be visible, not hidden at the bottom of a blog where most people don't look.
Save the ring image on YOUR own web site sever or photo album. Directly using the image saved on my server is a major no no. Doing this will get your site deleted.
You have one week to put up the ring code before you're added to the ring. If it's not up by then, your site's submission will not be accepted.
Keep the RingSurf email you get for your records.
If you're going to be away from your blog for a period of time, please, be courteous to your readers and mention it on your blog before you take a leave of absence. No matter what, you can resubmit any time if you have been deleted before.
