    Vintage Softie Patterns Available
Posted by Rhiannon under Uncategorized [4] Comments For anyone who might be interested, I listed some of the loveliest patterns of vintage stuffed animals on eBay. Purchaser will receive scanned emailed PDF of 8 different patterns including a teddy bear, panda bear, duck, two different rabbits, cat, and penguin. I just love the delicate innocent look to these fellows. Knit them in a soft yarn and baby and adult will both love them! Most patterns are fingering or worsted weight yarn. Patterns are easy to resize by just changing yarn and needle size. Take a look

    69. Yarn Harlot: The 2006 Knitting Olympics
The knitting Olympics has only a gold medal. (There is only do or do not.) Finishers get a gold medal button for their blog, their name entered into a draw
    http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/olympics2006.html
    The 2006 Knitting Olympics
Eligibility: Any knitter who, embracing the "Citius, Alitius Fortius" ideal, would like to challenge themselves while embracing the Olympic spirit, and is just whacked enough to play along with me. Concept: You must cast on a project during the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics (Feb 10)- and finish before the Olympic flame goes out (Feb 26). That's 16 days. Rules:
    1. The project must be a challenge for you to complete in 16 days.
    2. There are no rules about what a challenge would be. Like the real Olympics, there are many areas to compete in. If you are a new knitter, then a garter stitch baby sweater might do...If you are experienced, well. I've already considered Torino. Use your own conscience.
    3. While this is intended to be somewhat difficult (like the Olympics) it is not intended to ruin your life. Don't set yourself up for failure. (Olympic athletes may cry, but they do not whine pitifully, sob and threaten members of their family with pointed sticks because they haven't slept in five days. ) This is intended to (like the Olympics) require some measure of sacrifice, and be difficult, but it should be possible to attain.
    4. No casting on before the flame is lit.

WHY KNIT OR CROCHET KNIT VS. CROCHET THE BASICS ... DISCUSSION FORUMS Basic Crochet Instructions The instructions below will show you how to cast on and to make a knit stitch, also known as garter stitch. If you follow them exactly, you’ll complete a 7" by 9" block, which will be great practice and help a good cause: Warm Up America! Learn how your block can be joined with others to create an afghan to warm up someone in need. With these basics, you can make a scarf, hat, pillow, bag or any number of projects. Beginner Knit Block What you need: - Worsted-weight yarn, any color or colors
    - Size 8, 14"-long knitting needles
    - Yarn needle with big eye
    - Small scissors Casting On Step 1: Make a slip knot on the shaft of one needle. This counts as your first stitch.
Step 2: Place this needle in left hand. Hold other needle in right hand to control the yarn. Insert point of right needle, from front to back, into the slip knot and under the left needle.
Step 3: Hold left needle still in left hand, and move left fingers over to brace right needle.
Step 4: With right index finger, pick up the yarn from the ball.

    So long, little fuglings.
As many of you may have guessed, PRK and I have decided to hang up our snark and go back to the outside world.
While we have had a lot of fun with this site, we also have a lot of other committments on our time and something had to go. When something meant to be fun starts to turn into a chore, it's time to call it quits.
We will miss all (well, most) of you and your comments. For everything I posted, there were always at least a couple of comments that were way funnier than anything I could have come up with.
We will leave the site up, so feel free to peruse the archives and if any of you want to take up the fugknit cause, put your web address in the comments for this posting.
So long, and may none of your knitting be worthy of this site.
    Love and Kisses
