Patrick - A traumatized teen who witnessed his dog and parents getting attacked and eaten by the Komodos. He acts very strangely through the whole film, for instance he tears out the heart of a dead Komodo. He bravely captures and kills one of the vicious lizards. Victoria - Jill Hennessy! The psychologist who takes Patrick back to the island to help him conquer his fears. She soon learns that the trip may be doing more harm than good. She takes out a Komodo by smashing it's head repeatedly with a rock. Mr. Gris - Patrick's friend and ferryman. He takes Pat, Annie, and Victoria to the island. He apparently felt guilty about letting them go and attempts to find them. He ends up dead due to an infected Komodo bite. Annie - Pat's nannie? Aunt? I never picked up on her relation to him other than guardian. She ends up as Komodo fodder. Denby and Oates - Two guys on the island guarding the oil facility and taking care of the lizard problem. Denby has his throat ripped out, but lasts long enough to take out a Komodo. Oates wrestles with a Komodo and puts a iron pole through it's neck and shoots two others. He helps Patrick and Victoria escape the island.

About the Komodo Dragon Extra Extra Learn all About the Komodo Dragon The Komodo Dragon is one of the world's largest living reptiles. They grow to an average of 8 feet. Thats right Komodo Dragons are bigger than Yao Ming. An average male weighs about 200 pounds, while the average female weighs around 150 pounds. The Komodo dragon has a great sense of smell, and if helped with wind blowing in its favor, it has the ability to seek out carrion up to 5 miles (8.5 kilometers) away. Despite its size, the Komodo is fast moving and agile. They can climb trees and like all monitor lizards they are good swimmers.Komodos have the same type of teeth as skin eating sharks. They have about 60 teeth that are able to rip chunks out of their prey. The mouth of a Komodo Dragon contains deadly bacteria which will either kill the Komodo's prey in an instant or kill the prey later because of infection. The main prey of the Komodo Dragon is wild boar and deer. Komodo Dragons live on the islands of Komodo, Lesser Sunda of Rinca, Flores, Gili, Padar, and Montang. The area Komodo's thrive in is a harsh habitat. They live on volcanic islands that contain steep slopes and have little water. The average temperature of these islands are 80 degrees Farenheit. Komodo Dragons usually like keeping to themselves except during breeding season. Male Komodos defend and maintain territory up to 1.2 miles every day. The size of the territory depends on the size of the Komodo Dragon. Male Komodos usually allow other males to go into their territorry when in need of food.

About twenty eggs are deposited in abandoned megapode nests and incubated for seven to eight months, hatching in April, when insects are most plentiful. Common name : Ora, Komodo dragon, buaja darat (land crocodile) PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Komodo dragons are the world's heaviest living lizards. They can grow to a length of 10 feet (over 3 meters), with an average length of 8 feet (2.5 meters) and weight of 200 lbs (91 kg.). Females are usually under 8 feet and weigh about 150 lbs. (68 kg.). The Komodo dragon's keen sense of smell, if aided by favorable wind, enables it to seek out carrion up to 5 miles (8.5 kilometers) away. Despite its size, the Komodo is fast moving and agile. They can climb trees and like all monitor lizards they are good swimmers. Doc Their teeth are laterally compressed with serrated edges, resembling those of flesh-eating sharks. They have about 60 teeth that they replace frequently and are positioned to cut out chunks of its prey. The highly flexible skull allows it to swallow large pieces of its food. The Komodos mouth is full of virulent bacteria and even if its prey survives the original attack, it will die of infection later. Young dragons up to 29 inches (.75 meters) live in trees and eat insects, birds, eggs, small mammals and other reptiles. They will descend from the tree for carrion.

Komodo National Park lies in the Wallacea Region of Indonesia, identified by WWF and Conservation International as a global conservation priority area, and is located in the center of the Indonesian archipelago, between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores. Komodo National Park includes three major islands: Komodo, Rinca and Padar, as well as numerous smaller islands creating a total surface area (marine and land) of more than 1,800 km2. As well as being home to the Komodo Dragon, also known as the Komodo Monitor, or Ora (to Indonesians), the park provides refuge for many other notable terrestrial species. Moreover, the Park includes one of the richest marine environments.

The number of terrestrial animal species found in the Park is not high, but the area is important from a conservation perspective as some species are endemic. Many of the mammals are Asiatic in origin. Several of the reptiles and birds are Australian in origin. These include the orange-footed scrubfowl, the lesser sulpher-crested cockatoo and the nosy friarbird. The most famous of Komodo National Park's animals is the Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis)(also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komodo_dragon
