    About Luxembourg - The Government The country is a representative democracy in the form of a constitutional monarchy headed by the Grand Duke Henri. However, the role of the Duke is largely ceremonial. The country is governed by the Cabinet of Ministers exercising the executive power and by the Parliament which represents the legislative power in Luxembourg. The Cabinet of Ministers includes the prime minister, who serves as head of government. The prime minister is the leader of the political party or coalition of parties having the most seats in parliament, known as the Chamber of Deputies.

Sources of Law Constitution Chapter VI of the Constitution concerns Judiciary. Codes and Statutes The primary sources of law are Codes and Statutes. The main codes are the Civil Code (Code civil), Commercial Code (Code de Commerce), Penal Code (Code penal), Criminal Procedure Code (Code d'instruction criminelle), and Civil Procedure Code (Code de procédure civile). 2. Legal System Legal system is based on civil law system; accepts compulsory ICJ (International Court of Justice) jurisdiction. Luxembourg law is based upon Roman law. As such, it is comparable with, for example, the German and French systems but not with the Anglo-American system. The administrative law is made up of many separate laws based primarily on the French and Belgian legal systems.
