Description:
This is NOT your typical math book!
Karen Lyn Davis, creator of the popular website, Coolmath.com, has taken her experience of teaching Precalculus and Calculus and put it into a book that will really prepare you for Calculus 1.
There’s so much in Precalculus courses that you don’t need for Calculus… and so much that’s covered, but much differently than how you’ll really use it… and then some other things you’ll need that aren’t covered enough! This book has what you really need… Along with a great preview of Calculus.
As a graphic artist and former mathphobe, Karen has a very unique view of math and really understands what students need. In the classroom, she views herself more as a motivational speaker than as a math teacher. Her often irreverent sense of humor actually makes this stuff fun!

Workshop Precalculus provides students with a bridge to the study of calculus. It seeks to help students develop the confidence, understanding, and skills necessary for continuing their study of mathematics. While the Table of Contents may look very similar to other precalculus texts, Workshop Precalculus reexamines how students learn and, therefore, how we should teach. Teaching using the Workshop approach involves instructors giving up some command and control of the classroom in favor of giving the students more control and responsibility for their own learning. The Workshop approach involves eliminating the distinction between classroom and laboratory work. By systematizing and supporting a simple interactive teaching format, Workshop Precalculus helps us implement sound methods. The method alternates between three primary components: Summary Discussions, Introductory Remarks, and Collaborative Activities. When employed in conjunction with other simple but profound teaching suggestions
