Norwegian is a Germanic language spoken in Norway . Norwegian is closely related to, and generally mutually intelligible with Swedish and Danish . Together with these two languages, Norwegian belongs to the Northern , or Scandinavian group of the Germanic languages. Proficient speakers of any of the three languages can understand the others. Owing to Norway's mountainous geography, there is considerable diversity in vocabulary, grammar, and syntax among Norwegian dialects. For centuries, Norway's written language was closely related to Danish . As a result, the development of written Norwegian has been subject to strong controversy related to nationalism, rural vs. urban discourse, and Norway's literary history. As established by law and governmental policy, there are currently two

Alphabet
The Norwegian alphabet consists of 29 letters, the first 26 or which are the same as the alphabet used in English . The three last letters are and . In addition to the 29 official letters, there are several diacritical signs in use (somewhat more in Nynorsk than Bokmål): à ä ç é è ê ñ ó ò ô ü. The diactritical signs are not compulsory, but may alter the meaning of the word dramatically, e.g.: for (for), fór (have gone), fòr (meadow) and fôr (animals food).
Bokmål and Nynorsk
Two official written forms of the Norwegian language are in existence.

I'm planning to make a one year trip around south America. My plan is to travel to Argentina first (arund first of May) and travel along the coast of Brazil towards Central America. Maybe I'll end my trip in the US by crossing the Mexican border, seams to be the easiest way into the country :s1:
Any tips on nice places to go to? I not very much into seeing old buildings and stuff like that. It's more fun to meet interesting people and make new friends. I'm traveling just by myself.
Maybe I'll do some volunteer work if I stumble over something that I can relate to.
