Hellgate Guru Forums Community Off Topic PDA View Full Version : Looking for someone good at math Saturday, January 6, 2007, 06:16 PM Alright, so i need to figure out how to verify this problem for Monday. Anyone have any ideas. I looked at it for a little bit, and I am not quite sure what to do. By the way, I do not know if both sides of the equation are equal, and although I am almost certainly positive they are, I cannot assume it.
Sin(X + Y) + Sin (X - Y) = Sin^2 X - Sin ^2 Y
EDIT: I should probably list the identities that we have discussed in class, at least those pertaining to this problem.
I don't think anymore than the following five are required.
Sin ^ 2 X + Cos ^ 2 X = 1
Cos (u + v) = Cos u Cos v - Sin u Sin v
Cos (u - v) = Cos u Cos v + Sin u Sin v
Sin (u + v) = Sin v Cos u + Cos v Sin u
Sin (u - v) = Sin v Cos u - Cos v Sin u RiF Saturday, January 6, 2007, 06:18 PM I know ive done this when i was in school but that was a long time ago sorry :S Saturday, January 6, 2007, 07:28 PM damn... I've been working on this thing forever now. Still can't get an answer that's correct. I just end up such with a complicated mess of numbers that I can barley write across a piece of paper. Tue Jan 23 16:12:48 CST 2007 http://www.21stcenturysciencetech.com/articles/spring01/nuclear_power.html From this analysis, it is clear that the investors will have more than made their money back (a $1.1 billion profit, in fact), simply considering the Federal and State incentives returned to them in the first five years. For example, the solar capital fund will have been replenished by 2014 if the systems are installed over 2007-2008. http://www.taxpayer.net/greenscissors/LearnMore/2003%20Sen%20Nuclear%20Fact%20sht.pdf http://www.taxpayer.net/greenscissors/LearnMore/2003%20Sen%20Nuclear%20Fact%20sht.pdf http://www.greens.org/s-r/11/11-09.html National Renewable Energy Lab ( http://www.nrel.gov/analysis/analysis_tools_benefits.html http://awea.org/legislative/#PTC http://www.gosolarcalifornia.ca.gov/csi/tax_credit.html http://www.uic.com.au/neweconomics.pdf ... http://www.physics.usyd.edu.au/~ned/warming/mills.pdf , page 8 http://archive.greenpeace.org/comms/nukes/chernob/rep02.html

The Economics of Building a Nuclear Power Plant in Fresno by Alan Cheah and Mark Stout Wednesday Jan 17th, 2007 6:44 PM It was only seven years ago when the promise of cheap electricity through deregulation helped plunge California into a deeper budget crisis and robbed ratepayers of their hard earned money. They are poised to do it again. Nuclear proponents are grateful for our citizenry’s short memories. Now, nuclear power advocates promise cheap, clean, safe energy and jobs. This section focuses on the economic viability of nuclear versus renewable energy and conservation. original image ( 720x540) The Fresno Nuclear Energy Group LLC is proposing a 1600 megawatt nuclear power plant costing $4 billion.

Glenn on May 2, 2006 - 11:54am Permalink Subthread Comments top How's everyone's investments (financial or otherwise) doing these days? I'm interested in any good stories about your personal preparations. Aside from investments in energy, metals, what sectors are people interested in? What about in your personal life? Thinking of moving? Getting to know your neighbors better? Patching up things with your long lost family? Comments can no longer be added to this story. phineas gage on May 2, 2006 - 12:55pm Permalink Subthread Comments top I think land will be a useful investment. Right now there is still a lot of land in the US that used to be farmed. It's being sold off cheaply for exurban developments. Around here (SE Ohio) people will buy 10 or 20 acres of a defunct farm (at $2000 per acre) to use as "hunting grounds", purely for turkey and deer season. Once peak oil hits, energy intensive farming will be more difficult and many of these former farm lands may become profitable again for farming as we will need more land to produce the same amount of food. If nothing else you can contract the land as managed timber acreage as the cost of timber will go up in step with the cost of natural gas. I know several people around here who switched to wood heating in their homes this winter and the cost of firewood went up locally. If we get into hyperinflation, land will probably hold its value well.
