Overview
This A Level is currently being revised for first teaching in September 2008. View the specification and sample assessment materials This course takes a multi-disciplinary approach, encouraging the development of different methods of enquiry, with the focal point being the performer and the performance. The course is based on the interaction between the theory and practice of Physical Education. Before candidates start this course, it would be helpful for them to have studied GCSE Physical Education. The intention is to extend knowledge brought from Key Stage 4 and GCSE to an Advanced level. Candidates cover a diverse foundation programme at AS with opportunities for staged assessment. For those who wish, AS is followed by a more demanding and qualitative requirement at A2, where study of modules 2566 and 2567 leads to synoptic assessment involving the integration of knowledge across different areas of the subject. The specification aims to provide candidates with the knowledge and understanding to improve their own level of performance. Candidates choose two activities at AS and A2 from an extensive range which includes athletics, football tennis, golf, mountain walking, sailing and skiing.

73. Physical Education
This page describes our athletic program and some of the sports we offer at DCA.
http://destinchristianacademy.com/Physical_Education.html
Physical Education:
Physical Education is a very important part of the Academy curriculum. Each class learns motor skills, individual and team games, and various team sports based on their age and abilities.
Along with our daily P.E. activities, Kindergarten through Fourth Grade also participates in the Presidential Physical Fitness Test. This is both fun and rewarding for your child.
In February, we are participating the the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart! Beginning in early January, we will be training hard for this great opportunity. Mrs. Bell's students, seen in the left hand column were our biggest raisers! Great job!!
All students are required to wear tennis shoes during P.E. Kindergarten through 5th grade wear their school uniform to P.E. class. The sixth grade through 8th grade are required to purchase a 'gym shirt' from the office and shorts (no particular type) at the beginning of school and are expected to dress out each day for their P.E. time.
Physical Education classes are held daily for all classes, rain or shine.
