Clinton Campaign Tries to Recover From Racism Allegations

Hillary Clinton speaks at a National Newspaper Publishers Association event Wednesday in Washington, where she took pointed questions from the Black Press of America. (AP Photo) adsonar_placementId=1338106;adsonar_pid=144757;adsonar_ps=-1;adsonar_zw=320;adsonar_zh=139;adsonar_jv='ads.adsonar.com'; One source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told FOX News that the Clinton campaign has long been frustrated by her inability to make policy attacks stick to Obama. The source said the campaign has at times come out more damaged after going on offense than it was before. Another came when Hillary Clinton said that Lyndon Johnson was critical to getting civil rights legislation passed in the Sixties, and she was then decried for not giving enough credit to Martin Luther King. Nonetheless, Clinton is continuing to do as she has vowed: ignore no constituency.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
"The way I see it, the fact of the Jews' racial peculiarity will necessarily influence their social relations with non-Jews. The conclusions which—in my opinion—the Jews should draw is to become more aware of their peculiarity in their social way of life and to recognize their own cultural contributions. First of all, they would have to show a certain noble reservedness and not be so eager to mix socially—of which others want little or nothing. On the other hand, anti-Semitism in Germany also has consequences that, from a Jewish point of view, should be welcomed. I believe German Jewry owes its continued existence to anti-Semitism." —Albert Einstein, A. Engel translator, "How I became a Zionist"

Zenit reject racism claims
(AFP) Friday 14 March 2008 Print Email to a friend Share Russian champions Zenit Saint Petersburg on Friday denied that racist slogans were directed at players from visiting French side Marseille by local fans during their UEFA Cup match midweek. European football governing body UEFA have launched an inquiry after Marseille defender Ronald Zubar complained of racist chants directed against him and black teammates Charles Kabore and Andre Ayew. "Zenit unites football players of different nationalities and religions," the club said in a statement. "Our club has millions of supporters in different countries. The club and its players repeatedly took part in the anti-racist programmes permanently expressing their negative attitude to any outbreaks of racism." The statement also said that a special anti-racist banner was placed at the stands of Saint Petersburg's Petrovsky stadium by Zenit fans during Wednesday's match with Marseille. "The club can only express its bewilderment concerning the accusations of racist propaganda made by Zenit fans that appeared after Marseille left Saint Petersburg," the statement added.

How did Islam solve the problem of racism?
Racism is one of the severe diseases of human society in this age. Everyone remembers how black Africans were transported across the oceans, packed in specially designed ships, thought of and treated like livestock. They were made slaves, forced to change their names and religion and language, were not entitled to hope for true freedom, and were refused the least of human rights. Because among some Western people the attitude to non-Westerners has unfortunately changed little in modern times, the political and social condition of black people often remains, even where they live amid the native Westerners as theoretically equal fellow-citizens, that of despised inferiors. When God’s Messenger, upon him be peace and blessings, was raised as a Prophet, the same kind of racism, under the name of tribalism, was prevalent in Makka. The Quraysh considered themselves in particular, and Arabs in general, superior to all the other peoples of the world. God’s Messenger came with the Divine Message and proclaimed that no Arab is superior over a non-Arab, and no white is superior over black

Baker" 23-APR-1991 Subj: Re: Afrocentric Racism The Afrocentrist seizes knowledge of this place perspective as fundamental role of intellectual inquiry because it's content is a self conscious obliteration of the subject/object duality and the enthronement of an African holism (Asante 1990:5). Much like phenomenalogy, or the post-modernists'emphasis on multiple voices, Afrocentric scholars seek to, admittedly, construct a philosophy and epistemology centered within our cultural reality. I study with Molefe Asante at Temple University who is the foremost scholar on Afrocentricity. I must inform the Anthro_L list that Ivan van Sertima is not dominating the Afrocentric discourse, actualy he is somewhat on the periphery. In Asante's 1990 book Sertima was not listed in the index, and I do not recall Asante ever using any of Sertima's work in this book. If anyone is interested here are some references for both work on Afrocentricity and African origins of civilization. Asante, Molefe Kete 1988 Afrocentricity. Trenton: African World Press.

backyard blogosphere so to spea.k I begin with two posts that reflect a discussion that has been taking place in the African blogosphere over the past 10 days around an African blogging conference in South Africa. White Privilege is the subject of White Privilege exists whether you know it, acknowledge it, or understand it. Any attempts to convince me that you, a white person, don’t have White Privilege will result in laughter, mockery, and possibly a beat down. She goes on to explain that she is not talking about economic privilege, which is one kind of privilege, but privilege that comes with being born white.. What they don’t realize is that economic privilege is only one kind of privilege. When I speak of White Privilege, I am not speaking of economics (though they may come into play based on the individual), I am speaking of unearned advantages one has because one is born White. That’s not the only kind of Privilege there is, of course. Another I’m very familiar with is Heterosexual Privilege. The second post from Women of Color Blog confronts a trend in the blogosphere which reflects a passionate racism within the blogosphere that is quite disturbing This sounds very familiar She concludes that the liberal minority blogosphere do not want to read what women and people of colour have to say
Naija Girl starts with the reason for her post and then goes on to discuss the slavery in traditional African society and the impact the European invasion had on African life.

Racism and Clinton's Victory in Ohio
Posted March 6, 2008 11:10 AM (EST) Read More: Clinton Clinton Ohio Hillary Clinton Ohio Hillary Clinton Ohio Primary ... buzz up
I have four points to make about racism and the result in Ohio's Democratic presidential primary on Tuesday. First, racism undeniably played an important role CNN exit polling indicated that 20% of voters said the race of the candidate was important factor (undoubtedly a lower than truthful response), and 59% of those supported Clinton. As has been pointed out, that is a total of 249,299 votes, greater than Clinton's margin of victory . Clinton's greatest percentages were in the 6th and 18th congressional districts , in the rural and largely white Appalachian southeast. Her largest percentages
