Having Sarcoidosis and Asthma
The biopsy was performed the Friday before Labor Day, 2005. I was close to a mental breakdown in the surgery prep area I was so terrified. I was actually dragging a favorite pillow around from home much in the way Linus had his blanket. I remember the anesthesiologist telling me I had to give the pillow to them now. Then it dawned on me how stupid I must have looked to them and God I felt so embarrassed. Right now my pulmonologist is monitoring the affects of the sarcoidosis on my heart with frequent EKGs and blood tests. There is no guarantee the nodules will every completely resolve and there's always the chance of flare-ups. A little twinge of fear still lingers in the back of my mind, but I've learned not to let it consume me. When I have symptoms I've had before, I don't worry as much because I know their course now, and have a better handle on things.

Introduction More than 100 conditions make up the group of disorders called interstitial lung disease. Most of them cause progressive scarring of lung tissue that eventually affects your ability to breathe and obtain enough oxygen, but beyond this, the disorders vary greatly. Although the majority of cases of interstitial lung disease develop gradually with few warning signs, a few come on suddenly. Some are more common in men than in women, but a few affect women exclusively. And although doctors can pinpoint why some cases of interstitial lung disease occur, most have no known cause.

Media CFS Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Diagnosing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome is based on the presence of unexplained exhaustion that is not improved by sleep or rest, persists for three to six months, and causes an all-over weakness and lack of energy so severe that it interferes with normal living. The first step in diagnosing chronic fatigue syndrome is to rule out any underlying conditions, including psychological disorders, that may be contributing to the problem. Some of the other illnesses that can cause excessive fatigue are: hypothyroidism, anemia, Lyme disease, and chronic hepatitis. (See the differential diagnosis below.) 1994 Revised Case Definition Of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
The Annals of Internal Medicine
Major Criteria A case of chronic fatigue syndrome must include the presence of the following: 1. Clinically evaluated, unexplained, persistent, or relapsing chronic fatigue that is of new or definite onset (has not been lifelong); is not the result of ongoing exertion; is not substantially alleviated by rest; and results in substantial reduction in previous levels of occupational, educational, social, or personal activities.
