How do you even begin to make home a safe, tranquil haven while playing a balancing game between parenting, working at your job,being a housekeeper, teacher, nurse, counselor, and do it all cheerfully and without being so exhausted that you don't have a few minutes every now and again to pursue your own interests, or even just crash into bed at a reasonable hour for a change? More importantly, how to give God your best in the midst of all your other responsibilities? I don't like to examine my life very often because it can be depressing. It seems that when I do have free time during the school year, I'm too exhausted to do anything productive during it. I'm not a morning person so "start your day with God" is difficult for me. At the same time, the frantic pace of my life tries to deny me the "end your day with God" plan as well. So I try to keep a Bible with me- in my car, purse, whatever....and "sneak in" time with God. But is that really giving Him my best, or is it more like a quick stop at a gas station? It may keep me going for a while, but if I neglect the big picture and don't have any maintenence work done, eventually I'm going to fall apart.
