    Self-Care at Home
Home care starts before a sunburn. If you are prepared before going out in the sun, you probably won't need these tips and techniques.
    • Immediate self-care is aimed at stopping the UV radiation.
      • Get out of the sun
      • Cover exposed skin
      • Get out of the tanning bed

Relief of the discomfort becomes important.
      • Medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen , and naproxen are useful, especially when started early.
      • For mild sunburn, cool compresses with equal parts of milk and water may suffice. You may also use cold compresses with Burow solution. You can buy this at a drugstore. Dissolve 1 packet in 1 pint of water. Soak gauze or a soft clean cloth in it. Gently wring out the cloth and apply to the sunburned area for 15-20 minutes. Change or refresh the cloth and solution every 2-3 hours.
      • Anyone raised in a beach community knows the secret of aloe-based lotions. There are many commercially available types. Ask the pharmacist at your local drugstore. Tearing apart your aloe plant in the yard and applying the cool jellylike substance inside the leaves is no longer necessary.

Overview Sunburn is caused by the skin's reaction to ultraviolet light exposure. It appears as reddening and tenderness of the skin and usually occurs between 12 and 24 hours after the exposure. Sunburned skin can develop blisters and shedding of the outer layer of skin. Some oral medications used for other medical conditions, most commonly hydrochlorothiazide (a blood pressure medication), may make the skin more sensitive to sunburning. Facts About Sunburn
What is sunburn?
Did you know? Exposure to the sun during daily activities and play causes the most sun damage.
Overexposure to sunlight before age 18 is most damaging to the skin. Sunburn is a visible reaction of the skin's exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, the invisible rays that are part of sunlight. Ultraviolet rays can also cause invisible damage to the skin. Excessive and/or multiple sunburns cause premature aging of the skin and lead to skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the US and exposure to the sun is the leading cause of skin cancer. Children often spend a good part of their day playing outdoors in the sun, especially during the summer. Children who have fair skin, moles, or freckles, or who have a family history of skin cancer, are more likely to develop skin cancer in later years. UV rays are strongest during summer months when the sun is directly overhead (normally between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.).

    SS-N-22 Sunburn
The NATO designation SS-N-22 ‘Sunburn’ is believed to be designated P270 Moskit, the air-breathing variant of the naval missile 3M80 (the designation 3M80 apparently referring to the Mach 3 speed of 1980 weapons). It may have been designed originally to enhance the effectiveness of Missile Cutter Brigades (that is, units of missile-equipped FACs) and Destroyer Brigades hitherto dependent upon the Malachit or SS-N-9 ‘Siren’. It is used on "Sovremennyy" destroyers (eight missiles on each) and on "Tarantul [Tarantula] III patrol ships (four missiles on each). A high supersonic speed was specified to reduce the target’s time to deploy self-defense weapons, indeed the weapon was designed specifically to strike ships with the Aegis command and weapon control system and the SM-2 surface-to-air missile. The Moskit (3M80) is a ramjet-powered missile with a slim forward body and ovoid nose, and a fatter rear half with four divided air intakes. There are four clipped delta platform wings and four smaller tail surfaces of similar shape organized in cruciform configuration around the fuselage. All the wings and tail surfaces are folded when the missile is in the launcher. Internally the radar seeker is in the nose with the guidance system, batteries and radio altimeter in the remainder of the front compartment, and the 300 kg semi-armor-piercing warhead immediately behind. A fuel tank, presumably with a kerosene-type fuel, occupies the area to the leading edges of the wing and the area almost to the rear edges is occupied by the ramjet. Much of the rear of the missile is occupied by a solid propellant booster through which runs the ramjet nozzle. Actuators are to be found below the tail surfaces.

    Tanning, Radiation damage Introduction:
Even though skin cancer occurs in adults, the serious skin cancers are caused by the radiation damage (particularly the sunburns) that occurred in our youth. Similarly, adult cataracts can result from too much sun in the eyes during childhood. What is it?
Sunburn is visible radiation damage to the skin.
Most of the damage is caused by UVB radiation, although UVA radiation can also contribute to the damage. Radiation risk has increased greatly over the last twenty years. Who gets it?
Children are at the highest risk. More than half of a lifetime’s sun exposure usually happens during childhood.
The lighter the complexion, the greater the risk of radiation burns from the sun. Higher elevation also increases the risk. Some medicines also make the skin more susceptible to damage.
UV radiation reflects off of snow, sand, water, cement, and even grass, increasing the potential for damage. People often feel safer on a bright cloudy day, but significant sun damage can still occur.

go sailing cyclone over Madagascar . Knowing that people died and many lost their houses I refuse to moan about the bad weather and diving conditions this caused for me. So turns out I was doing little diving, no sailing and a lot of reading during this vacation. Still it provided me with some experiences and insights that will help me (or you) when planing the next trip to these beautiful islands in the middle of the indian ocean. The Flight The Arrival Getting around Where to stay I have been staying in a guesthouse What to do book your ride with the CatCoco catamaran/ferry to Praslin and/or La Digue sailing as that seems to be best way to get around the islands. I was diving with a couple that actually just came back from that very sailing trip. While the boat was basic they did recommend it. If you have a little bigger budget you might also check out Dream Yacht Charter . Unfortunately 300+ EUR per person per night is not exactly a bargain. The money Where to eat The diving Diving surely was the main reason for me to visit the Seychelles. Unfortunately I cought a bit of a bad weather and after a handful of dives even a cold. (yeah!) The first dive while not spectacular from the flora and fauna still had awesome visibility. 30+ meters and the bluest blue I have ever seen. A big nurse shark, some reef and white tips, a moray and a school of barracudas was the best it got during the week. We were diving on the west coast of Mahe. What got me excited the most was on the surface though. On the last day we got escorted by a school of 10-15 dolphins. Just very few meters from the boat. Would have loved to just jump right into the water. I was diving with Big Blue Divers just out of convenience as they were just next door. Not recommended. A couple of things happened that just should not have happened.

        Definition:
A sunburn is reddening of the skin that occurs after you are exposed to the sun or other ultraviolet light. See also: Sunburn first aid
        Alternative Names:
        Burn from the sun
        Common Causes:
Sunburn results when the amount of exposure to the sun or other ultraviolet light source exceeds the ability of the body's protective pigment, melanin , to protect the skin. Sunburn in a very light-skinned person may occur in less than 15 minutes of midday sun exposure, while a dark-skinned person may tolerate the same exposure for hours. It is now recognized that sunburn and sun exposure should not be treated as insignificant. Deaths have resulted from acute sun exposure, and significant temporary disability is experienced by millions of sunburned people each year.
