Discusses the special relationship between Zen and taoism.
    http://www.zenhall.org/Pages/tao.html
The combining of Zen and Taoism is not new. Bodhidharma practiced Taoist yoga in India. He brought Buddhism to China where it combined with Chinese Taoism to produce living Lin Chi (Rinzai) Zen. The great Korean Zen Master Won Hyo combined both practices in the Silla dynasty 1300 years ago, practicing the same Sun-do breathing we teach here today. Japanese Zen Master Hakuin strongly emphasized the importance of Taoist breathing techniques for Zen practitioners.
In the search for awakening to our Essence Mind, Zen meditation is a direct spiritual path. With awakening, all that remains is harmony, love, peace, compassion and wisdom. But with poor health or energy and emotional imbalances, many obstacles arise for deep sitting meditaton. Modern day Zen practitioners unknowingly are not utilizing the benefits that Taoism can bring to their practice. Also, Zen has wisdom which goes beyond the harmonizing benefits of Taoism, but Taoists do not realize this Zen wisdom and for them it is easy to become attached to their own energy.
With wisdom and pure intention, if we combine Zen and Taoism, we can enter a correct spiritual path with balanced health and purified mind, and achieve great awakening.

Lao Tzu(Laozi) was The author of the traditional Chinese book of wisdom, Tao Te Ching. This book was dictated to a man named Yin Xi in the 6th century BC. who was responsible for writing(carving) it down on bamboo slips(the paper was invented five hundred years after then), and handed it down to future generations. Lao Tzu was a great humanistic philosopher. Unfortunately, he had been greatly misunderstood by many people. The pupose of my books was an attempt to demythologize myths, hearsays and fabrications about him and his thoughts. The most genuine and authentic heirloom of Lao Tzu is his book Tao Te Ching(Dao De Jing) and the philosophical framework underlies it. The Myth about Taoism(Daoism) Only the original Taoism , as expressed through the book Tao Te Ching , adheres to Lao Tzu's philosophy. Nevertheless, improper translation and interpretation of the text of the book could generate either distortion of or deviation from Lao Tzu's philosophy(pitch of his thoughts). It further leads to the undesired consequence:initiating the

Taoism and Anarchy: The Ancient Way to a Modern Freedom by Mark Gillespie I have studied many religions in my search for truth. In my searches, I embraced a few. I was a nominal Christian for many years and converted to Islam about six years ago. Of course, I have left all of those religions behind, in my never-ending quest for truth. However, there is one "religion" that I studied that seemed to contain more truth than any other. That way is Taoism. Now, I won't go deep into the history of Taoism, as that would take too much time. However, a brief summary of Taoist History can be found here According to history, a man named Lao Tzu, who lived around 600 BCE, founded Taoism. He is the author of a treatise called Tao Te Ching (Daodejing). This translates roughly into English as, "The Book of The Natural Way and of Natural Virtues." Anyone who reads this text will find it to be shockingly forward and uncompromising. Lao Tzu treats the subject with the levity and seriousness it deserves.

The Tao - the Way and its Virtue
This website will contains various articles about Taoism, and some times Zen which has elements of Taoism and Buddhism. If you're new to Taoism I recommend the these books to get you started. Firstly I want to tell me own story and my own experience. It all started in 2000 when I was working in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. And I met a friend Ebrahim who was originally from Lebanon. His wife was from Thailand and during the two months I knew him he shared some very interesting books with me. The first of which is the Real Power: Business Lessons from the Tao Te Ching . Previously I had seen the Jet Li movie, Tai Chi Master. And now it all came together. And in 2002 I started regular Tai Chi classes with my teacher Winkin Leong. Now they way I once described Taoism to a friend was like this: In Tao existence is polar. Its not logical. There can be no humanity without Yang (male) or Yin (female). All human experience is either based on love or fear. There is always opposites and for example there can be no good without bad, there can be no light with darkness. So the eternal Tao is the source of all things. It transcends God as we know it in the Western sense because everything is part of Tao and the Tao is part of everything. More and more I've encountered people I have great respect for and found they are Taoists and there was an underlying feeling of agreement with their way. Here is a list of modern people who may have described themselves as Taoist or in my opinion embodied the Taoist lifestyle:

In a valley below Shadow Mountain sits an unimpressive hut. A path leads from the mountain pass along the river to this dwelling. There are no distinguishing marks about this structure other than a simple Chinese character above the main entrance; marking it as the dwelling of the timeless sage, Siji Tzu.
Within this hut are the central documents that root the philosophical system known as Daoism. These documents teach one how to live in universal harmony and how to cultivate ones highest and purest sense of their true nature (Jade Purity).
The two ancient sages in which I focus within these pages are Lao Tzu (author of the Dao De Jing ) and Chuang Tzu . I believe the thoughts and principles laid out by these two philosophers form the solid core of Daoism which I follow.
I also introduce a new sage here named Siji Tzu ; a timeless sage living the ideas given by Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu and delivering my interpretations of Daoism through the use of poetry, koan and fable.
