These papers cover a range of disciplines from molecular and cellular physiology and biochemistry through whole plant physiology to community physiology. Every issue of the Journal contains at least one 'Perspective' article. These are most commonly reviews of research areas, which are particularly exciting and important, topical or controversial. Opinion articles are also considered. In addition to 12 regular issues, at least one Special Issue is published each year. These are collections of articles derived from a specialised meeting or conference session. All papers are fully reviewed, and we will endeavour to complete the review process with all speed. Students decide to major in the biological sciences for many reasons. Some enjoy the outdoors and wonder about the plants and animals they've seen. Others are curious about the causes and cures of diseases, or they want to become involved in land management and environmental protection. Whatever the reason, you'll find that the University of Wyoming offers a wide variety of opportunities. Within a short distance of the University of Wyoming's campus are short grass prairies, sagebrush-dominated foothills, coniferous forests, mountain lakes, and alpine meadows. These diverse environments, combined with modern research laboratories, provide abundant opportunities for research and teaching in the plant sciences. Many have found the study of plants and fungi to be an excellent starting point for their studies in science. The program provides a broad range of knowledge, leading to a variety of employment opportunities . Since 1887 we've helped students develop their interests in subjects as diverse as botany, mycology, zoology, agriculture, molecular biology, wildlife management, and general biology. Today, the Botany Department offers a wide variety of

Description
Aquatic Botany is concerned with fundamental studies on structure, function, dynamics and classification of plant-dominated aquatic communities and ecosystems, as well as molecular, biochemical and physiological aspects of aquatic plants. It is also an outlet for papers dealing with applied research on plant-dominated aquatic systems, including the consequences of disturbance (e.g. transplantation, influence of herbicides and other chemicals, thermal pollution, biological control, grazing and disease), the use of aquatic plants, conservation of resources, and all aspects of aquatic plant production and decomposition.

Plant Biology will continue to be well represented at the University of Tennessee. Most former Botany courses will continue to be taught, but under another academic unit (and in some cases under a different course number). See listing of undergraduate courses below. There is still a Plant Biology track as an option for an undergraduate Biology degree. Contact the Division of Biology for details. Students wishing to undertake graduate study with former Botany faculty members should make contact with them, and will have to apply to the appropriate department. These two new departments will jointly offer an undergraduate major in Biology and plan to offer, along with the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology , an interdepartmental, undergraduate major in Genetics. However, the undergraduate majors of Botany, Genetics and Zoology will continue to be offered as long as the present catalog (2003-2005) is in effect. This could mean as long as the summer of 2009. You would have until August 2009 to graduate in one of these three majors. Starting in the fall of 2005, ISU freshmen who might have been Botany or Zoology majors will instead be Biology majors. In addition to the interdepartmental Biology major, we will be offering an undergraduate interdepartmental genetics major.

Botany Quest Introduction Task Process Evaluation ... Teacher Page Introduction You are a team of botanists hired to help our class save their dying plants. There are four different plants in our classroom. Each plant is not growing well. Your team will be assigned to one of those plants. It will be the job of your team to observe, research, and inform our class what they will need to do in order to save one of our poor dying plants. Thank you!
Task Your team will be assigned to one of the four plants. If you are team #1, then you will work on plant #1, and so forth. You will need to look at your plant and study the current health of your plant. See how it looks now. Where is it located in the classroom? Where it is at will make a difference on how much light it will get. Put your finger in the soil. See how the soil feels. Is it wet, dry, or moist? This will show how much water it has. Record your information. Then research everything you can about the plant. There may be other things to help you save your plant. When you have learned all you can about your plant, you will need to give the class a report on what your plant looks like, what you found, and what we can do to save our plant. We are counting on you!
