In recognition of the importance of immunology, the University of Washington established an independent Department of Immunology in 1989. This reflected the realization that immunologic disorders were of great importance in medicine and that the science of immunology, although sharing a conceptual base with biochemistry and microbiology, had developed a distinct intellectual focus, vocabulary, and technical armamentarium. Immunology Graduate Program
Molecular and Cellular Biology of the Immune System
The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Immunology at The University of Iowa was organized in 1993 as a group to bring together faculty from five departments that share a common interest in teaching students and performing research in Immunobiology. The Program offers classroom and research training leading to a Ph.D. degree which will prepare the student for a career in academic research, industry, or teaching. The learning experience is enhanced by an outstanding seminar series and journal clubs at which the most current immunology research is discussed. Approximately six students are admitted each year, with financial aid available to all those entering the Program. For additional information or to request an application, contact the Program administration. The program is funded by NIH "Predoctoral Training Program in Immunology" NIAID T32 AI007485. 31. Immunology PartIB Home Page
This site gives access to a course in immunology, intended for universitylevel students.

Immunology PartIB Home Page
Introduction
Welcome to my home page for Immunology teaching. This site contains material which I prepared for a course in Pathology, which was delivered to bioscience, veterinary and medical students up to 2000-01.
I am on academic sabbatical leave in 2001-02 and this happens to coincide with a major revision of the courses my department teaches, so that the lectures below no longer coincide exactly with those given in our Cambridge teaching. Nevertheless a good deal of the material overlaps with the new NST Part IB Pathology and MVST Biology of Disease courses in which the teaching of immunology is now in the hands of others.
Please note that these web pages are primarily intended to be internal documents which were provided for my students. They are therefore not entirely comprehensible outside the context of the rest of our former course (39 lectures given by others, plus practical classes).
The material on this site was written and produced by me. If you want to use a few images as part of a presentation (journal club intro, lecture etc.) please do so; an acknowledgement of the source would be appropriate but permission is not needed. If you want to copy (other than for personal use), adapt or distribute this material in it's original or any other form, you should ask for permission, preferably by emailing me . If you point any students or readers to the site, an email letting me know is greatly appreciated (some have kindly done so already). This serves two purposes, it makes me feel wanted and helps to convince me that my time is not being wasted.

Trends in Immunology Editor: Zoltan Fehervari Volume 29, 12 issues ISSN: 1471-4906 Imprint: Cell Press Commenced publication 1980 Impact Factor: 10.2 See editorial board for all editors information Description Trends in Immunology plays an essential role in monitoring advances in the various fields of immunology, bringing together the results in a readable and lucid form. The backbone of each issue is a series of succinct reviews and hypothesis-driven viewpoints. Together with the other sections of the magazine (news, trends, letters, book reviews, centre page diagrams) they give the reader a complete picture of the diverse field of immunology. This broad perspective makes Trends in Immunology an invaluable information source for researchers, lecturers and students alike. Trends in Immunology helps to link developments in basic and clinical immunology, and is now established as the top-ranked monthly review journal in its field, according to ISI's Science Citation Index for immunology journals.

The Multidisciplinary Program in Immunology (MPI)
The Multidiscplinary Program in Immunology at Stanford is home to faculty, students, and staff who work together to produce internationally recognized research in many fields of immunology. The long tradition of collaboration among the immunology laboratories at Stanford fosters highly productive interdisciplinary research, with an emphasis on the application of molecular approaches to problems in cellular and clinical immunology. Faculty research interests include both bench-to-bedside approaches and basic science research. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars receive outstanding training through their participation in research, teaching, seminars, journal clubs, and the annual Stanford Immunology Scientific Conference. Many members of our community are also affiliated with Stanford Institutes of Medicine The 2007-2008 Seminar Series and Journal Club schedules are now available - please visit the 'Seminars' link.

The scope of the journal is to disseminate information that may contribute to understanding the mechanisms involved in the genetic control of organ and tissue allograft rejection, alloimmunity, chronic infections and progression of malignant diseases.
Research areas include:
1. Immunogenetic studies on structure and function of molecules involved of immune responses; immunogenetic markers including polymorphism of immunogenetics markers such as HLA, minor histocompatability antigens, immune receptors (KIR, NK, Toll-like, ILT, MICA/B, PAMPs, etc); population frequencies and disease association studies.
