Personality Hermione's most prominent feature is her cleverness. Hermione is book smart and is very good with logic, as seen when she deciphers Snape's potion challenge at the end of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Hermione does not do well at the beginning of the series in stressful situations, as seen when she does not think to use her wand when needing to create fire to get rid of the Devil's Snare. However, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she can quickly think of a place to apparate to. She also thinks to reveal Harry to the Death Eaters to save Xenophilius Lovegood, and to use a stinging hex on Harry's face to hide his identity when attacked by Snatchers. Hermione acts, at times, like the mother hen of the trio. She is very studious, and can be a bit bossy and fussy. She's the best student in her year and one of the best in the school, and is often teased and admired in equal measure for her "know-it-all" tendencies. His father is Apollo and his mother was a human, Coronis, who was burnt at the stake after infidelity to Apollo (this is a big deal, you see). He was raised by a centaur named Chiron after being rescued from the pyre by Apollo (via the first caesarean birth, it's said) and was taught subsequently about surgery, drugs, love potions and incantations. He was made a god after Zeus struck him down for recieving payment in order to raise the dead, presumably through a potion concocted of a certain side of Gorgon's blood, and was personified also in the stars as Ophiuchus. Despite this, he looks quite like an average human male, a bit on the short side and verging on impish when the feeling strikes him. Obviously, supernatural beings that have 'senses' will be able to judge there is something wholly inhuman about him. He's talented and witty, but he doesn't have any outward characteristics of being the Son of Apollo about him. His temper is fairly level and he is cheerful for the most part, but upsetting him is probably not the best idea. You might get a nasty case of syphilis for your troubles.

Due to his questionable personal hygiene, the bookshop is also afflicted with bizarre examples of uncleanliness, including sea mollusks in the teacups and dead badgers on the floor. Personality Bernard loathes customers and all of the pressures and responsibilities involved in retail with a passion, which makes his choice of vocation all the more interesting. To him, people buying books is a very bad thing, as it means he will have to take the time to order more.
