It shows as a warning box in XP and I can only get rid of it through the task manager. It doesn't appear to cause any problems in MCE.
Does anyone else have this? or have any idea what is causing it?
Thanks
Paul 23-06-2006, 12:15 PM Having the same problem with Elonex Artisan, Anybody help trouble shooting which device this refers to ?
Thanks
James paulpenny 23-06-2006, 1:57 PM As I added various bits of software to my machine and updated drivers it just stopped happening.
However, I then started to get lockup in MCE. A program would continue to play, but the MCE interface would stop responding. The only cure was to Ctl-Alt-Del and then stop the eshell process and then reboot.
So, I put it back to its factory condition and only added back in those bits of software that were absolutely necessary. Lo and behold, back came the "device not connected" error.
But, it has now stopped and I'm not getting any lockups either :smashin:

BOOKS FROM 1900
The Soft Side

Henry James
Henry James composed the twelve stories that were published under the title The Soft Side between 1898 and 1900. They were written, according to James' biographyer Leon Edel, to finance Lamb House, his new home in Rye, England. Suffering from a strained writing hand, James probably dictated most of the stories, described by one critic as "amusettes," to his secretary William MacAlpine. James often rallied against compressing his skills into "a fixed and beggarly number of words" to suit the short story market. He called this "the cramp of the too intensely short." In England, Methuen published The Soft Side with a printing of 3000 in 1900, the year James characterized as "so monstrously numbered." MacMillan Co. published it here with a single printing of 2800. Still to come were The Wings of the Dove in 1902, The Ambassadors in 1903 and The Golden Bowl in 1904.

For much of his life he was an expatriate, an outsider, living in Europe (much of The Portrait of a Lady was written while he lived in Venice, a city whose beauty he found distracting). This feeling of being an American in Europe came through as a recurring theme in his books, which contrasted American innocence (or a lack of sophistication) with European sophistication (or decadence) - see for example The Portrait of a Lady or The Golden Bowl.
He made only a modest living from his books, yet was often the houseguest of the wealthy. While not really one of them, James was able to observe them at close range. (He said he got some of his best story ideas from dinner table gossip.) He was a homosexual whose tastes and interests were rather feminine, yet who as a male could travel and act with an independence denied the women of his time. Being a permanent outsider in so many ways may have helped him in his detailed psychological analysis of situations — one of the strongest features of his writing — because he was never a full member of any camp. (See The Bostonians, especially Verena's speech about always looking at the world from behind a sheet of glass.)
This analytical strain to his work is quite strong. It is possible to see many of his stories as psychological thought-experiments. The Portrait of a Lady might be an experiment to see what happens when an idealistic young woman suddenly becomes very rich; alternatively, it has been suggested that the storyline was inspired by Charles Darwin's theory of sexual selection. The novella The Turn of the Screw is a ghost story that deals with the psychological impact on an unmarried (and possibly sexually repressed) young governess who stumbles into an ongoing tragic love affair complicated by the fact that the lovers are dead. His late novel The Wings of the Dove deals with the question of how far a woman in love will go to get what she wants and what it costs her when she does.

Henry George and Liberation Theology
James M. Dawsey
Henry George is most often remembered as a political economist and a social philosopher. However, he could just as properly, perhaps, be called a theologian. All of his books are suffused with deep spiritual feeling and have the justification of the ways of God to man as at least part of their objective. His most famous work, Progress and Poverty , closes with an argument for personal immortality, and even his most technical economic treatise, the Science of Political Economy , contains many passages (including virtually the whole of Book I, chapter 7) that seek to demonstrate the presence of divine will behind the natural order.
In this paper, I want to look more closely at this theological side of Henry George's legacy. Specifically, I intend to examine George's relationship to and possible influence on the moral theology of the Roman Catholic Church, both in its formulation and in its content, by seeking to answer three questions. 1) How are the Papal Encyclicals Rerun Novarum Ouadragesimo Anno , Mater et Magistra, and Populorum Progressio related to George's thought? 2) What are some connections joining Latin American Liberation Theology to Henry George? And 3) are there indications for a deeper relationship in the future?

I first was inspired to write music after hearing Mozart's Horn concerto No.3 in year 10 of High School. I'd never been so moved by a piece of music before. I was amazed at how much just a music, even with no lyrics or specific meaning could make me ache inside with such emotion, just from an arrangement of notes and sound textures. Then is when I first wanted to write music so as I might be able to make people feel as I did from listening to that piece of music.

Henry James (1843-1916)
Biographical note
American/British author of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, best-known for novels and novellas of morals. As such, he favors internal, psychological drama; his work is frequently about alienation, his prose frequently serpentine. His earlier work is considered Realist, but in fact throughout his long career he maintained a strong interest in a variety of artistic effects and movements. More:

The Ambassadors, which Henry James considered his best work, is the most exquisite refinement of his favorite theme: the collision of American innocence with European experience. This time, James recounts the continental journey of Louis Lambert Strethera fiftysomething man of the world who has been dispatched abroad by a rich widow, Mrs. Newsome. His mission: to save her son Chadwick from the clutches of a wicked (i.e., European) woman, and to convince the prodigal to return to Woollett, Massachusetts. Instead, this all-American envoy finds Europe growing on him.
