Introduction Keats, John (1795-1821), English poet, one of the most gifted of the 19th century and an influential figure in the Romantic movement. Keats was born in London, on October 31, 1795, the son of a livery stable owner. He was educated at the Clarke School, Enfield, and at the age of 15 was apprenticed to a surgeon. Subsequently, from 1814 to 1816, Keats studied medicine in London hospitals; in 1816 he became a licensed pharmacist but never practised his profession, deciding instead to be a poet. II. “Ode on Melancholy”: Melancholy’s Pleasure Introduction In this paper I am going to analyze the poem “Ode on Melancholy” whose author was John Keats. This poet belongs to the Romanticism, which is a movement that appeared in the late eighteenth century, in which the feelings and the individual are very important. I chose this author because I think he is very representative of this movement. As follows I enclose the poem: No, no, go not to Lethe, neither twist Wolf's-bane, tight-rooted, for its poisonous wine; Nor suffer thy pale forehead to be kiss'd By nightshade, ruby grape of Proserpine; Make not your rosary of yew-berries, Nor let the beetle, nor the death-moth be Your mournful Psyche, nor the downy owl A partner in your sorrow's mysteries; For shade to shade will come too drowsily, And drown the wakeful anguish of the soul. But when the melancholy fit shall fall Sudden from heaven like a weeping cloud, That fosters the droop-headed flowers all, And hides the green hill in an April shroud; Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose, Or on the rainbow of the salt sand-wave

My name is Edgar Morgan Forster, but you can call me Morgan, or E.M., or Em, or really anything other than Ed or Edgar or Eddie. If you want to be on the safe side, just avoid anything starting with E (apparently at my new school many people go by the name Em, so perhaps calling me simply Morgan would be more convient?) Since I am absolutely not at all sure what to do with regards to this bio thing (how can one encapsulate the maddening fullness of a life in pixels that form words alone?) I suppose you'll just have to read my livejournal in order to find out more about me. If you want to. If you don't, however, I won't take offense. Really.
