SF/F/H preferences: Well known authors who can serve as references for what I enjoy reading include Samuel R. Delany, Ursula K. Le Guin, Cordweiner Smith, Jorge Luis Borges, and William Shakespeare. In addition to these authors, I would include anime (e.g., Boogiepop Phantom Neon Genesis Evangelion , and Texhnolyze ), opera (e.g., Berlioz's Le Damnation de Faust , Verdi's Macbeth , Mozart's Don Giovanni , Strauss's Elektra ), and music (e.g., Berstein's Mass , anything by Philip Glass) as influences on my own writing. I tend to write soft science fiction aimed at an adult audience (if I hold back, it's because I hope it makes the work better, not because I fear being found objectionable). Publications, if any: None yet. Anything else you think would interest other members:

James (Jim) Smith James Smith here, born 9-16-52, that puts me at 52 and counting. Born in Iowa where the tall corn is you know, but the ears are no bigger than in California where I now reside. I have a wife 33, (yrs married that is) not her being 33. 4 kids now adults. I am the 5th so they say and I can't disagree. I have a dog, he's lab springer, and (danged mis-behaved) just like me!
So Get A Bike, Get Black...
3 January 2005 I n 1993 I had an AVM bleed at the gym and again the day of and just before surgery. And 2 times previous to 93. I am on medication for ever. I've got a big hole in my head, pain pills that don't work much, had 7 jobs since 93. My second job back I had a seizure and fell down metal stairs and broke my neck, compressed my shoulder, surgery on both, cracked my elbow, and my knee cap, sprained my ankle. and broke my coller bone. I have ungodly headaches, severe neck pain, severe shoulder pain, severe back pain, not to lift over 10 lbs. I do and I am screwed for 4 days in nightmare pain. But gee I am alive, so what. Does that make me a heroe or something? Does that make me feel any better that I survived all of this. Hell no. I am 52 and have at the most 20 years left. I do not remember a day since '93 that I can say I really enjoyed it. My friends split, can't handle it. My relatives are reserved around me. My wife of 33 yrs. loves me but does not like to spend time with me. My kids think I am crazy, all 4 of them. I guess I am a little. I say really off the wall things to amuse myself. I mean things that make no sense only to me.

How To Use Your Credit Card Safely
Posted by admin on 2 Mar 2008 12:00 am. Filed under Finance By Dror Klar Platinum Quality Author
Some people would argue that the credit card is one of the greatest inventions since sliced bread, but there can be a lot of drawbacks to them if you do not know how to handle the responsibility of using one. The best way to use a credit card is to not use it at all, really, unless you are already a responsible spender. If you live from paycheck to paycheck like a lot of people do and have trouble paying bills on time simply because you spend money on things you do not need, then getting a credit card is probably a bad idea until you learn to manage your finances better. You need to be able to manage your own money before you start managing a line of credit, because you are paying interest on anything you put on that line. Interest can be as much as 20% or more and it could take you years and years to pay off a balance of a card that is maxed out if you only pay the minimum payment every month. Another thing that can be bad about credit cards is the typical cash advance feature. If you need cash to use while you are out, get it from your debit card, NOT your credit card. You will pay interest and probably a fee to get cash from your credit card, while your debit card will only withdraw funds from your checking account.
