Environmental Integration
Environmental integration means making sure that environmental concerns are fully considered in the decisions and activities of other sectors. Since 1997, it is a requirement under the EC Treaty. Article 6 of the Treaty states that "environmental protection requirements must be integrated into the definition and implementation of the Community policies [.] in particular with a view to promoting sustainable development". The importance of integration is reaffirmed in the Sixth Environment Action Programme which stipulates that "integration of environmental concerns into other policies must be deepened" in order to move towards sustainable development. Integration areas:
The Cardiff Process
This is the name given to the process launched by European heads of state and government (The European Council) at their meeting in Cardiff, in June 1998, requiring different Council formations to integrate environmental considerations into their respective activities, putting article 6 of the EC Treaty into practice.

Continuous Integration
Martin Fowler Continuous Integration is a software development practice where members of a team integrate their work frequently, usually each person integrates at least daily - leading to multiple integrations per day. Each integration is verified by an automated build (including test) to detect integration errors as quickly as possible. Many teams find that this approach leads to significantly reduced integration problems and allows a team to develop cohesive software more rapidly. This article is a quick overview of Continuous Integration summarizing the technique and its current usage. Last significant update: 01 May 06 ThoughtWorks , my employer, offers consulting and support around Continuous Integration in general, and CruiseControl in particular. We originated CruiseControl and have always had active committers on each of the projects. We are also beginning to develop a proprietary add-on to CruiseControl that's suitable for large enterprise environments; although we are committed to supporting and enhancing the core open-source tool (a tricky dance, but we'll see how it works out). For more information see CruiseControl Enterprise Contents

In information technology, there are several common usages: 1) Integration during product development is a process in which separately produced components or subsystems are combined and problems in their interactions are addressed. 2) Integration is an activity by companies that specialize in bringing different manufacturers' products together into a smoothly working system. 3) In marketing usage, products or components said to be integrated appear to meet one or more of the following conditions: A) They share a common purpose or set of objectives. (This is the loosest form of integration.)
