Gallagher Country - Part 1 By: Eliot Glazer
I should have known from the moment he picked up the phone, greeting me with his own infamous surname as if he were a front-desk receptionist, that this wasn't going to be an ordinary interview. If you're like me, you'll remember Gallagher as the ultimate 1980's comic who haunted your dreams. Between the skin tight bellbottoms and the oversized furniture , the shrill, nasal timbre and his signature moveeviscerating food with a malletGallagher built a career as one of the first comics to find popularity through cable specials (although I'm too young to have witnessed the HBO appearances, I can vaguely remember seeing Gallagher roller skating on VH1). But it turns out that the guy is more than just a French beret and a sledgehammer. He's a sixty-one year old father of one and resident of Los Angeles who continues touring the country performing stand-up comedy while simultaneously attempting to jumpstart separate careers as both a web entrepreneur and hotelier. In fact, his passion for these professional ventures is so strong that I barely got a word out of him regarding his career in comedy. No, Gallagher is much more interested in intimately venting his frustrations to a stranger because, in his own words, he's "fucking pissed and ready to smash something."

Letter From the Editor
We're here in eastern North Carolina sitting out some heavy storms and tornado warnings tonight and it reminds me of growing up in the Twin Cities of Minnesota where warning sirens were a regular summer occurrence. My grandmother was afraid of lightening and thunder so all the grandchildren had to remain calm through storms to keep her believing there was nothing to worry about.

Florida's Franklin County, located in the Florida Panhandle, only recently got its first traffic light. With a population of only 10,000 and 87% of its land protected by the state or federal government, Franklin is the ideal destination for the visitor who wants to explore nature.
Key West Just Got Better
Walking down Duval Street in Key West, it looked like business as usual. Sloppy Joe's Bar was jam packed with tourists sipping their favorite brew. The souvenir stores were selling the typical stuff, t-shirts, coffee mugs and Cuban made cigars.

MENTORING PROGRAM MAY SAVE A BAD MARRIAGE BEFORE IT BEGINS
In America today, cohabitation has become a social norm. Why? In large part because young people are so fearful of divorce. Living together has become an accepted solution to the problem of figuring out whether a relationship can last for life. Mike and Harriet McManus have a vision: America's churches can offer better answers to a generation of young people torn between the relenteless human need to trust in love and the reality that 50 years of high divorce rates make it hard to hope. But religious communities, rather than offering hope, have more or less accommodated to the young people's anxieties by passively tolerating cohabitation, say Mike and Harriet in their new book, "Living Together: Myths, Risks and Answers." The McManuses are clear about one thing: We owe the next generation more than moral lectures or confused silence, and we owe them practical help in building successful marriages.

Watch an Interview with Cheryl Gallagher talking about her time in Tibet and the process of recording the album.
Musical Sojourn To The Land Above The Clouds
Tibet is a richly textured and highly emotive musical sojourn that takes the listener on a journey to the land above the clouds (as Tibet is known). Perfect for meditation, contemplation, deep listening and spiritual thought and practice. Deborah Martin and Cheryl Gallagher have composed a work of beauty and majesty mixing traditional tibetan percussion and taos drums, harps and electronics with samples of authentic tibetan prayers intoned by residents of this ruggedly awe inspiring country.
Mark Hunton, Deborah Martin and Cheryl Gallagher are now safely reunited with family and friends, and back in the swing of things, albeit with a certain circadian rhythm imbalance ("jet lag" for the folks back home). The people were wonderful, the scenery spectacular, the spiritual culture deeply enriching. Filled with profound spiritual and musical inspiration, they are looking forward to working together on the many projects they have in store for the world. It is impossible for them to fully communicate the depth of feeling and the outstanding experiences here with full impact. Keep in touch for future creative video and audio productions from this crew soon.
