Generous funding has been provided by the American Society for Pharmacology and Therapeutics and from the HHMI -sponsored Summer Program in Undergraduate Research ( SPUR ), which is coordinated by the Department of Biology The Summer Undergraduate Research Program provides "hands on" research experience for sophomores and juniors in the area of molecular pharmacology. Although the projects will vary, each is related to a common theme - elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction of chemical agents such as drugs, hormones and neurotransmitters with biological systems.
