Python on the Mac
Python on the Mac has the ability to work with and much much more of the Mac infrastructure! Python comes pre-installed on Mac OS X, but due to Apple's release cycle, it's often one or even two years old. The overwhelming recommendation of the "MacPython" community is to upgrade your Python by downloading and installing a newer version. On Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4, download and run an installer for the latest version . This is a Universal binary version of Python that runs natively on PPC and Intel systems. On Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), download and run this installer (which sets up the graphics environment for the Python development environment), and then download and run this other installer (which actually installs the newer Python). As a bonus, once you've installed this power-user upgrade, you'll have a integrated development environment for Python called "

Welcome to the Macintosh Garden, a site devoted to preserving Macintosh abandonware games. Abandonware is commercial software that has been discontinued by the publisher and are not sold or supported anymore. If you are the publisher of a certain game on this site, and wish that it is removed, please email me and I will remove the game. The interest for abandonware is increasing everyday. One reason is that the emulators keep getting better and there are quite a few great emulators that runs the MacOS. Another reason is that people realize that all these new "cool" 3D games already have been made. And usually the original is more fun to play. :) The Macintosh Garden is hosted by Home of the Underdogs . Please click on the banner on top every once in a while to support our host.

How to Use Filters (Macintosh)
Many e-mail management functions in Eudora can be done automatically using filters. A filter can be thought of as a personal "valet" or "butler" that takes your mail and does certain things to it that you specify. One kind of valet might watch for particular mail from a mailing list and move it into a mailbox, open the message, and play a sound. Another might look for other kinds of mail and give it a label color, a high priority, and a new subject line. In Eudora, there are two ways to create filters - a simple way ( Simple Filter ) and a detailed way ( Detailed Filter
Creating a Simple Filter:
Step 1
Select the e-mail message from which you want a filter to be created. In our example, it is a message from Junior
Step 2 Select Make Filter from the Special menu.
Step 3 Once the Make Filter dialog appears, check the fields to make certain the information is correct. If not, you can modify the information. (For detailed definitions of terms in the above window, check your Users Manual). When you're finished, click

Apple TV 2.0.1 Update - There's a 2.0.1 update to Apple TV available - downloading it now on my Apple TV. Hopefully it fixes the problem I've seen with v2.0 regarding repeatedly resyncing unchanged content (that was just browsed on the Apple TV) since installing v2.0. Other v2.0 complaints have been slow browsing/previews of movies (for some at times almost as if the Apple TV cursor is frozen/won't advance to the next movie/show until the preview image is generated). For anyone that updates to v2.0.1, let me know of any pros or cons you see.
(Just a very quick/simple first impression as I'm headed out the door - after applying 2.0.1 I did a quick scroll through my movies list and it seems like it's smoother/faster now and I played a few seconds of one of my home movies and it didn't recopy that file on the next run of iTunes. I've not added any new content yet and will play with it more later tonight or tomorrow. I was on the verge of reverting back to v1.x due to the repeated recopying of unchanged content under v2.0 so I didn't hesitate to update to v2.0.1. Hopefully those issues are fixed now.)
Another report of PCIe SATA card problems after 2008 Mac Pro Firmware Update - Yesterday a 2008 Mac Pro owner mentioned his PCIe eSATA card wasn't working/recognized after applying the EFI Firmware Update 1.3. http://darrel.knutson.com/mac/www/browsers.html
Updated 30 March 2008 Welcome to yet another list on the Internet that once again proves that some people have too much free time. This list contains only publicly available browsers that work on Apple Macintosh hardware running any version of any Macintosh operating system. I have been maintaining this selection of Mac browsers for years. All entries made in more recent years are dated, with newer updates listed first. This means that more frequently updated browsers will more often appear at the top, but what the heck, it's just a silly list. The comments for each browser reflect my own personal opinions and assessments. Feel free to copy any information from this page. You also have my permission to copy everything from this particular page and claim it as your own work. But if you do that, your list will soon be old. I'll keep updating mine. Whatever. (Could that be what "Open Source" really means?) I'd appreciate hearing from you about any mistakes, broken links, additional information, etc. Darrel E. Knutson
