libwww-perl WWW Protocol Library for Perl
libwww-perl is a library of Perl packages/modules which provides a simple and consistent programming interface to the World Wide Web. This library is being developed as a collaborative effort to assist the further development of useful WWW clients and tools. Two versions of libwww-perl exist, representing the evolution of Perl as a language:
libwww-perl4
The first generation libwww-perl, based on version 4.036 of the Perl Programming Language . This library was written by Roy Fielding in 1994 as the backend for MOMspider , with contributions by many individuals around the globe.
libwww-perl5
The second generation libwww-perl, based on version 5.004 of the Perl Programming Language . Since Roy didn't have any free time, Gisle Aas and Martijn Koster led the Perl5 effort and creation of an object-oriented architecture for the new library. All new projects should use the Perl5 version, available at any CPAN archive site
libwww-perl is freely available as described in the Artistic License which accompanies the standard distribution. The

Perl-LDAP: Homepage Current Release:
Introduction
LDAP is the de-facto Internet directory standard, supported by companies such as Sun, Microsoft, IBM and Novell. LDAP is an integral part of Internet platform offerings like Sun ONE, Microsoft Exchange, and many others. The perl-ldap distribution is a collection of perl modules which provide an object orientated interface to LDAP servers. The perl-ldap distribution has several advantages over other LDAP interfaces for perl:
  • By using the perl object interface the perl-ldap modules provide programmers with an interface which allows complex searches of LDAP directories with only a small amount of code. All the perl-ldap modules are written entirely in perl, which means that the library is truly cross-platform compatible. No C or XS extensions are used so no C compiler is needed to install the modules. No other LDAP libraries (eg libldap) are required. It is being actively developed.
Distribution
The latest (March 2008) release of the library is perl-ldap-0.35

Extreme Perl is a book about Extreme Programming using the programming language Perl . This site contains the entire book. Please send me your suggestions, questions, etc. to comments at extremeperl.org. You may also want to join the Extreme Perl Group at Yahoo! Groups to discuss Extreme Programming with Perl. The book is available in HTML PDF , or A4 PDF Contents:
Preface
The Problem Extreme Programming Perl ... It's a SMOP Praise: There is a part of Extreme Programming which celebrates excellence in programming in service to a customer, someone who needs computation but doesn't have the skill/patience/mania necessary to program. I'm always looking for win-wins. Gratuitous virtuosity is a win for the programmer, but a lose for the customer, because they end up with a program that no one (sometimes not even the original author) can touch without causing damage. What I like most about your book is that it presents some pretty pointy hat programming techniques, but uses them to create power for a customer, XP-style. Kent Beck Great book - very useful information and examples. It inspired me to review our processes yet again.

PDL ("Perl Data Language") gives standard Perl the ability to compactly store and speedily manipulate the large N-dimensional data arrays which are the bread and butter of scientific computing. PDL turns perl in to a free, array-oriented, numerical language similar to (but, we believe, better than) such commerical packages as IDL and MatLab. One can write simple perl expressions to manipulate entire numerical arrays all at once. For example, using PDL the perl variable $a can hold a 1024x1024 floating point image, it only takes 4MB of memory to store it and expressions like $a=sqrt($a)+2 manipulate the whole image in a few milliseconds. A simple interactive shell ( perldl ) is provided for use from the command line and a module ( PDL ) for use in perl scripts.

    perl binding for ORBit.
    http://people.redhat.com/otaylor/corba/orbit.html
    Perl bindings for ORBit
CORBA::ORBit is a Perl binding for ORBit. It is based on code from my earlier module CORBA::MICO, which was a binding for MICO. The nifty thing about CORBA::ORBit is that you don't need to to create the stubs/skeletons as a separate step. You can either point it directly at an IDL file that it will parse directly, or it can it can get the information from an interface repository. (Not the ORBit IR, yet.) It is also very compact in terms of the amount of code necessary to implement clients and servers. CORBA::ORBit will work out of the box with the Gtk:: Perl module, and an example of this is included.
    Changes in 0.4.3
    • Fix segfault when marshalling exceptions back to dead clients (found by Tobias Engel). Don't leak memory for arguments in argv array that ORBit removes (Paolo Molaro). Fix bug with the length of octet and char sequences (found by Guillaume Schmid).
    Changes in 0.4.2
    • Work around problems compiling GNOME IDL files by removing ORBIT_IDL #define. Fixed problem where most typecodes were not getting registered.

The new release 1.0 is the first non-beta version of Open Perl IDE and fixes most of the bugs reported for previous releases. However, some of the changes are much more than simple bugfixes:
    • Better syntax coloring by using a new highlighter component.
Important debugger improvements, including better support for huge arrays.
Previous instance detection on program start.
Several minor HelpViewer and Configuration enhancements.
