Doing a little bit of history, I came across the Legend of Lo Shu, who presented himself to the emporer with a "Magic Square" on his Turtle Shell!
And when reading the popular thread "Strange Numbers", this seemed to resonate as well.
A Magic Square is a curious arrangement of numbers also known as a sacred square.
heres an example:
It all adds up to fifteen no matter what direction you add up the numbers!
Its pretty neat, and kinda' fun! :)
M(n) = n^3 + n / 2
Magic squares of order n= 3,4,5.....
create magic constants of 15, 34, 65, 111, 175, 260,.....
What do you think? Here are a couple links to get started. From a very early period these squares engaged the attention of mathematicians, especially such as possessed a love of the marvellous, or sought to win for themselves a superstitious regard. They were then supposed to possess magical properties, and were worn, as in India at the present day, engraven in metal or stone, as amulets or talismans. According to the old astrologers, relations subsisted between these squares and the planets. In later times such squares ranked only as mathematical curiosities; till at last their mode of construction was systematically investigated. The earliest known writer on the subject was Emanuel Moscopulus, a Greek (4th or 5th century). Bernard Frenicle de Bessy constructed magic squares such that if one or more of the encircling bands of numbers be taken away the remaining central squares are still magical. Subsequently Poignard constructed squares with numbers in arithmetical progression, having the magical summations.

Displaying a Contextual Menu
The Application Kit interprets right-mouse-down events and left-mouse-down events modified by the Control key as commands to display a contextual menu for the clicked view. Your view subclasses have several alternative approaches for displaying a contextual menu. If the view’s menu is to remain unchanged regardless of context, you can do one of three simple procedures:
  • Configure in Interface Builder : Add a standalone (rootless) menu to a nib file and customize it to suit, including the specification of targets and actions. Then connect it to your custom view’s menu outlet, which is inherited from NSView Programmatically assign a generic menu : Override the defaultMenu class method of NSView to create and return a menu that’s common to all instances of your subclass. (See Listing 1 for a sample implementation of this method.) This default menu is also accessible via the NSResponder menu method unless some other NSMenu object has been associated with the view.

Noun magic square - a square matrix of n rows and columns; the first n-squared integers are arranged in the cells of the matrix is such a way that the sum of any row or column or diagonal is the same
By Wordnet Dictionary
In mathematics magic squares consist of a number of integers arranged in the form of a square in such a way that the sum of the numbers in every row, column and diagonal are the same. A magic square may have odd or even number of rows and columns. Usually the magic square is filled up by consecutive numbers from one to N where N is the number of rows or columns. A magic square is designated with reference to this. Thus a magic square of order N will have N number of rows and columns and will be filled by numbers ranging from one to N More formally, a magic square can be defined as an n -by- n matrix such that the sum of any row, column or main diagonal yields the same result (the square's magic constant , denoted M n )); if these numbers are 1, 2,..., n Contents showTocToggle("show","hide") 1 Brief history of magic squares

When adding numbers, it does not matter what order you add in.
Materials Needed
A piece of paper with a 4x4 grid drawn on it and a pen.
Demonstrations
Start with a 4x4 grid, with the numbers from one to sixteen in it. Choose one number, then cross out the other numbers in the same row and column. (e.g. if you choose 7, cross out 5, 6, 8, 3, 11 and 15). Repeat until you only have four numbers left. If you add these numbers together you will get 34.
Further Information
This sort of magic square can be set up for any magic number. For example, let us set up a magic square that has the magic number 42. Start by choosing eight numbers that add to 42. Let's use 3, 5, 6, 8, 4, 1, 9 and 6. Now draw up a five by five grid. Leave the top right hand corner empty and write four of the numbers in the remaining squares in the top row. Write the remaining four numbers in the first column, leaving the top right corner empty again. Next fill in the grid as an addition table, as shown.
