Gerty Theresa Cori wurde am 15. August 1896 unter ihrem Geburtsnamen Radnitz als Tochter deutschst¤mmiger Eltern in Prag (damals –sterreich-Ungarn ) geboren. Ihr Studium der Medizin an der Deutschen Universit¤t in Prag schloss sie 1920 mit der Promotion ab; im selben Jahr heiratete sie ihren Kollegen Carl Ferdinand Cori . Nach einer T¤tigkeit als Assistentin am Carolinen-Kinderkrankenhaus in Wien folgte sie ihrem Ehemann 1922 in die USA; 1928 wurden beide amerikanische Staatsb¼rger. Ab 1922 arbeitete das Ehepaar an einem medizinischen Forschungsinstitut in Buffalo ; 1931 wurde Gerty Theresa Cori in der pharmakologischen Abteilung der Washington University in Saint Louis Assistentin ihres Mannes. Seit 1943 war sie dort auŸerordentliche Professorin, von 1947 bis zu ihrem Tod ordentliche Professorin f¼r Biochemie. Gerty Theresa Cori starb am 26. Oktober 1957 in Saint Louis.
